Scotty Pratt SCREAMS to a Street Stock Nationals Victory

It was a beautiful Sunday night on Memorial weekend. 92 cars filled the pit area, with the Street Stocks competing for $2000 to win and $200 just to start the feature. Four classes of cars were racing on the night. IMCA Late Models, UMP Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and UMP 4 Cylinders. A very big crowd was on hand to enjoy the races.

First off was the Eastern Iowa Landscaping UMP Modifieds, with 22 cars in attendance. Heat races were picked up by Jason Bahrs, Doug Crampton, and Nathan Balensiefen. In the Feature event, Nathan Balensiefen and Doug Crampton ran side by side throughout most of the race. At the end it would be Crampton capturing the 20 lap feature, and Balensiefen finished second for the fourth straight week. Leland Bushong came home third, Ray Bollinger fourth, and Brad Pershy rounded out the top five.

Next up is the Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock Nationals, with 36 cars on hand. In the first heat race, Muscatine Iowa driver Greg Gill picked up the heat race win. In heat race two, Tipton Iowa driver Scotty Pratt was victorious. In the third heat, McClelland iowa driver Jeff Joldersma was the winner, and in the final heat, Oglesby driver Nick sell was the winner. The two last chance races were won by Brad Tyler and Andrew Burk. Then in the 30 lap main event, 20 cars started the feature. At the drop of the green flag Greg Gill rolled off to an early lead, but on lap 11 Scotty Pratt got inside of Gill and took over the top spot. Pratt would lead the rest of the way and secure the win. Gill would wind up second, and Colona Illinois driver Chris Lawrence was third. Rounding out the top five was 19th starting Kory Peterson 4th, and Jeff Joldersma was 5th.

In the Avenue Rental IMCA Late Models, 20 cars signed in. Heat races were won by Nate Buesling, Kevin Blum, and Shawn Mulvaney. In the 25 lap feature event, Jeremy Gustaf was you early race leader, but on lap 11 Stephan Kammerer took over the race lead using the very top side of the race track, then Adam Opendike moved up to 2nd on the bottom side. On about lap 18 the 2 drivers made contact, and a big wreck ended both drivers evening. Then after the wrecked was cleared, Kevin Blum took over the race lead and went on to win the 25 lap feature. Nate Buesling string of good runs continued as he finished 2nd. Doug Curless, in his first year in a Late Model, finished 3rd. Cory Goldbeck and Todd Malmstrom rounded out the top five.

Finally the Aaron’s Affordable towing 4 cylinders were up. In the 13 car heat race, Justin Veloz picked up the win. Then in the feature, Clayton Bicker picked up his second feature in a row, with Veloz finishing second, and Chad Tucker was third, in the 12 lap feature.
