Granite City, IL – Tom Seets once again swept the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Model card at Tri-City Speedway Saturday, solidifying his lead in both the track and Heartland region standings.

Seets had to work harder this time, coming from the eighth starting spot and eventually dueling with upstart son Tommie Seets, Jr for the lead and eventual win. Trying to keep sight of Seets at the checkers were Pat Ryan, Seets, Jr., Mike Baggett and second-heat winner Terry McClintock. The victory was number 12 for Seets out of 13 starts; his qualifying heat win was number 13.

Sam Kizer pulled off a last lap pass on defending ShorTrack Series Sportsman champion Terry Chester to win his first feature event of the season. Kizer had his hands full as Pat Chalmers, Chester, Gary Walker, Bubb Mitchell and Bert Jacoby slammed and banged behind him trying to take away the top spot. Chester nipped Kizer for the lead at the line to complete lap 13 but Kizer returned the favor at the checkers for his first win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Chalmers, Walker and Paul Jones. The qualifying heats were won by Mitchell and Jacoby.

Jim Laughlin sped to his sixth Street Stock won of the year, besting Rick Huebner, David Parker, Robbie Benson and Brad Yotter. Yotter and Huebner won the qualifiers.

Steve Meyer, Jr. won his third Modified main of the season, crossing the line ahead of Joe Dresch and Andy Anderson. However, a post race carburetor inspection negated Anderson’s run and moved John Stanton to the show position. The qualifiers were won by George Carroll and Rick Carpenter.

Mel Perkins returned to business following a two-week suspension and nailed sown his fifth Factory Stock victory. Chasing Perkins were Ken Bell and Jake Robbins. Todd Erickson rang up his first career Tri-City win in the first qualifier, with Ralph Bradford taking the second.

Tom Ritter inherited the lead with six to go in the 600cc Micro Sprint main and breezed to his second win of the year. Ritter could only watch from a distance as Tad Alan Roach led the first 13 circuits but mechanical woes ended Roach’s run one lap later. Trailing Ritter to the checkered flag were Brian Steel and Nick Knepper. Ritter and Keith Steele won the qualifiers.

This article is to hard to read. What happened to Jacoby? I assume Chester was second? Why not list all the finishes at the end? Kenny
