Gateway International Raceway was able to run the Saturday portion of
their NHRA Division 3 and 5 Spring Sportsman Challenge XIV before
Sunday's bad weather came and blew away the show. Greg Sesti (St. Charles,
MO) won Saturday's Super Pro E.T.. Sesti, a winner at Gateway's 2005
MEGABUCK$ Weekend, raced through over 90 racers to win the race.
Mike Shanks' (Union MO)"Shankinator" took the win in Gateway's
Pro/Street E.T. category. Shanks, who struggled through the 2005 season,
rebounded by beating Mike Vishino (St. Louis MO) in the finals to win the
first race of 2006.
Cheyenne Bittle (Belleville IL) won Gateway's Jr. Dragster 10 and up
E.T. division and Morgan Keyser (Marion IL) won in the 8-9 year old
class.
Sunday's E.T. classes were cancelled by the severe weather at Gateway
as was the eliminations for NHRA's Stock/Super Stock Combo, Super
Street, Super Comp, Super Gas, and the Jeg's Super Quick. Rescheduling
information for the NHRA Super Classes will be listed on www.nhradiv3.com as
soon as they are rescheduled.
