Pretty good night at SFCR.... Car counts were down a bit. We had several drivers gone for other area races, like the Wolfmeier family who raced their Late Model in Malden. Had a few who were spending quality time with family. I guess a few more were just MIA, lol. However, we still had enough cars to field a pair of heats and a decent size Main event.

Most importantly, those of us who were there had a great time. No bickering, no on-track incidents, no hurt feelings, etc. I have mainly just attended the GVRA events at DRR aside of our SFCR visit earlier this season. As a recovery team driver at DRR, I work the track on the nights I race too, so I don't get to visit much there... It was nice to sit down and talk with my GVRA buddies again...

I finally got to chat with "Sprinted"...nice guy! Also met up with Christian Devine, driver of the #2X purestreet.... Good kid, I took him for a wild ride in the feature. We ran the high side for the opening laps but the cushion was really narrow at the entrance in turn two. To avoid a possible collision with the wall, we moved down low... Oops! Missed my mark, went a lil too high and slid right thru the slickest part of the track. Not to be saved, the car swapped ends and we got a up close and personal view of the competition as they followed... Fortunately my luck and their skills left us unscathed... Christian may have wet himself, but he definately got his money's worth! LOL!

Just maybe

if you didn't have so many rules and if you didn't pick and choose WHO you let run or be in your "club" you would have more cars!
MRS CHUMBLY !

It IS by invitation only... And there was only "one" who "wasn't allowed" and that "one" knew the consequences long before he was told to stay home... You are right, we probably do have too many rules( about the cars specs) but we have equally too few about rough driving... Our club has prided itself for clean driving. Nobody wants their cars junked. It is discussed every week that we race. There is some misunderstanding of that apparently, and with that misunderstanding came more strictness and discipline concerning rough driving. The whole point of the club is to show off yesterday's cars and for the owners and drivers to have fun doing so. If you can't have fun, race clean and abide by the rules of the association...you probably don't need to be a part of it.

If you yourself was made to feel unwelcome or if you have the whole story on anyone else who has been " denied" feel free to message me personally.... I'd like to know how or why anyone has been told they couldn't be a part of the fun... The spec rules are pretty open and the car you owned should have been allowed in without much change if any needed... I have handed out several sets of rules and over the last 5 years our club has grown from less than a dozen cars to over 40 currently. I know of none that have been openly denied, but there have been a few that had to have some mods to be club legal. As I said above, send me a message, I'll get to the bottom of it...

randy is exactly right. most of the rules are to make the cars safe and affordable. there is only one driver who is not allowed to attend the rest of the year. you are more than welcome to call my cell phone if you would like me to get to the bottom of this for you.

thanks, Dustin McClintock
