Belle-Clair Speedway Shamrock 40 Rescheduled for Friday, April 1st in conjunction with the Bob Johnston Classic

For those of you who do not know Bob Johnston he is probably Belle Clair Speedways biggest supporter. Bob and his brother ran the family business, Johnston Towing, in Belleville for many years. Moose has traveled all over the country to watch racing. I remember him going all the way to Texas and Louisiana to watch modifieds following Petroff and Hammerle and got rained out every night. He is a long time friend of the Knepper family and has many stories of their traveIs. Moose had a van we called old blue and went to Salem, Sun Prairie, Bloomington, all over the country. I don't think I have ever called him Bob as all his friends and family have always called him Moose. You can always find him sitting near the bottom of the stands with his bib overalls and goggles. Bob was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago and was not expected to live very long. He is currently going through another round of chemo that just wipes him out. I see alot of races that memorialize people after they are gone, but I wanted to do a race in the Moose's honor when he could be there and see it. Nothing would make Moose happier than a good weather and good racing Friday at Belle Clair. Just wanted people to know who this race was for.

Thanks

Since the Shamrock 40 and the Big Tenseries are now on the same night you MIGHT see Michael Kloos, Daryn Klein, Brian Diveley, the Little brothers and who know s who else. Brian Diveley won the mini-series last year. With 22 Late Models at Belle Clair Speedway two weeks ago and now add the Big Ten series to the mix, could seen up to 30 Late Models in the pits. The A Mods could have a better car count as well. Lets get the stands as full if not fuller as it was two weeks ago with better weather forecasted.

Jake little is planning on running Illini 100.

Looks like the weather is going to be much nicer than what we had two weeks ago. I will take 60 and sunny.

We had 21 late models the first night when it rained out. I think modifieds will be up from the last show. I talked to several modified drivers who did not have their cars ready then, but said they would for this show. I would think 18 to 20 is realistic. I hate trying to predict car counts. I know Curt is working on the track as we speak getting it ready for whoever shows up.

Shelly and I are going to try to do Jr. Fan Club tonight so bring the kiddies to sign up either on the front or the back sides of the track. 6:00 -7:00 p.m. sign-up time. Hopefully we can get it in tonight!
