Zebulon, Georgia (08/29/17) – Shane Clanton had a great weekend in his Weldbank Energy #25 Super K Express/ Capital Race Car/ Penske Shocks/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model at Merritt Speedway. His endeavors included a thrilling last-lap pass for the win on Saturday evening.
“Boy, we really had a great car all weekend,” Clanton noted. “We wrestled one away from Madden on Saturday night, and we had a chance on Sunday night too, but came up just a little short. I can’t say enough about this whole team. Everyone is working their tails off, and it’s just showing with our on-track performances.”
Following the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series to the Wolverine State, Shane Clanton was one 33 Super Late Models signed in at Merritt Speedway (Merritt, Michigan) on Saturday night for the opening round of the two-day Keyser’s Great Lakes Shootout.
After qualifying fastest in his group, Shane cruised to a heat race win, positioning him 3[sup]rd[/sup] on the starting grid for the opening night feature. Waiting until the last lap to make the move for the lead, Clanton pulled ahead of Chris Madden exiting turn two and held him off on the final corner to grab his ninth win of the season and the $6,000 payday. Madden, Devin Moran, Brandon Sheppard, and Morgan Bagley completed the Top 5 finishers in the 30-lapper.

Returning on Sunday evening to do battle for the $15,000 top prize, Shane followed up third quickest lap in time trials with a heat race victory. Rolling off from the pole, Clanton dropped one spot in the 75-lap affair to place 2[sup]nd[/sup] behind Chris Madden with Brandon Sheppard, Rick Eckert, and Devin Moran rounding out the Top 5.

Shane sits third in the latest World of Outlaws point standings. Full results from the weekend are available at www.WoOLMS.com .
