Shawn Rayfield Takes The $5,000 To Win Fastrak Midwest 2 Day Event In Malden, Missouri

Shawn Rayfield, #18R from O’Fallon, Missouri races to win the huge 2 day show held in Malden, MO at the Malden Speedway to claim his $5,000 prize money. Shawn qualified on Friday night with the 5th fastest time out of 25 qualifiers to start his heat race on the first row. Shawn went on to win the 8 lap heat to gain the pole position for the 75 lap Main Feature. “Shawn has been a member of the Midwest Touring Region for the last 3 years and has been a loyal driver to our Series. I was thrilled to see Shawn win this big race when so many big name drivers were competing for the purse. He was the 2007 Montgomery County Speedway FASTRAK Champion and his talent and solid driving skills kept him in the front for the full 75 laps”, stated Midwest Regional Director, Tracy Cottrell.

Nick Lyons, #2X from Illinois, broke a track record on Friday night with his incredible qualifying time of 16.239. The current record had been previously set by a Super Late Model driver. Nick was 2007 C.A.R.S. Champion. Billy James finished an impressive 3rd place after winning the previous week’s touring race that was held in West Plains, MO. Other local favorites competing in the 2 day event were; Joey Mack #24M, Darrel Moser, Jr. #22, Justin Asplin #Z07, Dallas Bennett #28; Tim Winchester #30-30M; Darin Walker #24; and Ed Dixon #50.

FASTRAK returned to Malden Speedway after racing there for the first time in 2007 for a 2 day event with Poplar Bluff Speedway. “Phil Santie and his crew exceeded our expectations in every way. We enjoy his staff as well as his facilities and the racing is always exciting”, stated Midwest Regional Co-Director, Stacey Cottrell. The Midwest Region Touring Series may be making another 2008 appearance at Malden.
