(BANNER, IL) Kelly Shyrock of Story City, IA defeated a 61 car field of United States Touring Modified Series from 9 states Tuesday night at Spoon River Speedway.
Shyrock overtook pole-sitter Bruce Hanford of Davenport, IA with an outside pass on lap 11 for the win. Shyrock then held off a hard-charging Mike Chasteen (who came from 22nd starting position) for the win. Shyrock collected $3,000 for the win.
“This is awesome”, said Shyrock in victory lane. “The track was great. There were 3 grooves all night long. It’s nice to finally win one; we haven’t had much luck lately.”
There was action all over the track Tuesday night, with heat race action producing 3 and 4-wide racing. Heat winners were Jim Leka, Ron Schreiiner, Jason Connoyer, Bruce Hanford, Jim Hibser and Tommy Myer. Semi-feature winners were Jon Tessch, Gary Cook, and Justin Boney.
