Inside Line Promotions - CALISTOGA, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2018) - The highlight for last week's World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series action in California came on Wednesday at Placerville Speedway during the 49er Gold Rush Classic presented by Riebes NAPA.

Tim Kaeding made his final start of the season in a Sides Motorsports entry. He qualified 24th quickest before advancing from sixth to third place in a heat race, which missed a spot into the dash by only one position. Kaeding capped the event by rallying from 10th to fourth place in the feature.

"He's really good," Sides Motorsports Owner Jason Sides said. "He gets everything he can out of it. I don't know if it's like the fuel load burns off and he gets better toward the end, but it seems like he always comes on late."

Sides also competed that night, qualifying 26th quickest and advancing from seventh to fifth place in a heat race before the night ended with a 21st-place result in the A Main.

"We got caught up in a crash in the heat race, but kept it going," he said. "We fixed the top wing and some other stuff before the feature, but we didn't catch that one of the shocks was bent. When I went to get into turns three and four it spun out in the first lap or two. The rest of the time it wouldn't get into the corners like it needed to. Come to find out the shaft was bent on the shock."

Sides then ventured to Calistoga Speedway for the Wine Country Outlaw Showdown. The doubleheader featured nearly identical results as Sides qualified 16th quickest and placed sixth in a heat race each night. He then finished 20th in the A Main on Friday and 21 st on Saturday.

"We tried totally different setups for both nights," he said. "We weren't tight enough both nights. When the rubber came in we were really good, but by then it was too late. We weren't tight enough early to get ourselves in position for when the rubber came in."

Sides is in the process of heading east to resume competition with the World of Outlaws, which race on Friday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, during the BeFour the Crowns Showdown and on Saturday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., during the Commonwealth Clash.

"Just to get back on some regular sized, decent tracks will be good," he said. "I'm looking forward to getting some of these races in and hopefully we can have some decent runs to end the season on a positive note."
