Sportsman class at I-55.......

This class has improved so much over the past three or four years, by improved I mean level of competion throughout the field. For example last night, any one of the top eleven finishers in the feature could have won that race if they were in the right position, heck just a few years ago Paul Belken was the man to beat in this class every week, now just about anyone has a chance of picking up a feature win on any given saturday. ATENTION ALL SPORTSMAN DRIVER'S, keep coming back each week and putting on a great night of racing as you did last night, we as fans do appreciate it. Congratulations to #00 Scott Stuppy on your feature win last night, your car looked awesome! ;)

I agree, this has turned into a very competitive class with many good cars and drivers.

I agree the Allied Sportsman class is the most competitive sportman class in the area.

But forces are at work to undermine the class, Just like in other classes there are a few that can't compete on a level playing field and scream for rule changes that will allow them to BUY themselves an edge to the determent of the class and the sport overall. Hopefully Allied will not cave in to the pressure of a few.

No doubt about it the sportsman class has really come on the last few years. They always have a good car count and the driving is getting better as are the cars. You dont see as many slide jobs by these guys as you do in the other classes it seems. Heck even the guys who just have started out are putting on a good show that 97 car of Goodsons has had a hard time all year I don't even think the car has been in the top 20 but last night the guy finished in the top 10 and beat some good guys who have raced for a while. nice job goodson. How about Scott Stuppy nice job old timer lol.

I was impressed with the #64 of Jim Smith, he was running right up there in front also. Like you said pitdrifter, you never know who's gonna pull out a win in this class. That's what makes this class of cars so great!

Ac04, John Loaned The Car To Bobby Prince Saturday. Bobby Blew A Motor The Week Before. John Was Pumped, He Knows Now What His Car Is Capable Of.

ALLIED IS TALKING ABOUT SOME CHANGES. NOTHING WRITTEN IN STONE YET. THEY ARE MAKING SURE THAT ANY CHANGES THAT MAY BE MADE DOESN'T CAUSE ANYONE TO BE OUT CLASSED, RATHER KEEP IT AS COMPETITVE AS IT IS NOW. LIKE I SAID NOTHING DEFINITE. THEY MAY CHOSE TO LEAVE EVERYTHING THE SAME.

i agree crazyfan why fix whats not broken? pitdrifter is prince done? he was starting to be a top 5 car.

I'm Not Sure About Bobby, I Would Think He's Probably Getting Something Together.

The Changes That Are Being Discussed, Are Not Wholesale Changes. It Will Be As Competitive As It Is Now. I Think It Will Give The Guys Some Choices And Flexability. Everything Has To Evolve Over Time. Nothing Stays The Same Forever. Racing Is Ever Changing. If You Were Around Then, Allied Used To Run 2 Semi's And B-mains In The Streetstock/sportsman. Last Week They Had No Semi, So I Think They Need Something To Help Put The Car Count Close To Where It Used To Be. The More Cars, The More Money Coming In.

i agree allied needs some tweaking, but not drastic change. the class is one of the most competitive sportsman classes around. i think they just need to give their drivers choices, but not eliminate anyone due to cost of change.

i think the 10 in the hole rule should go. allow stud girdles?? no speed advantage just a precaution. heads?? maybe allow aftermarket with weight penalty. rods??? the ones they allow stock type i-beam?? $300. you can get a good set of h-beam racing rods for $200 more. that $200 might save you a motor??

I remember when they ran two semi features and a b-main, heck we were happy to get our car into the b-main back then!
