Sprints & Midgets Kick Off DQ Clash This Sunday

Belleville, IL--The season opener for the Gateway and Badger midget organizations is slated for Sunday, April 10 at the Spoon River Speedway in Canton, IL. The first ever DQ Clash will be presented at the 3/8 mile high banked oval. The DQ Clash will showcase some of the finest talent midget racing has to offer. Battling for the $1500 first prize will be Davey Ray, defending Badger champion Scott Hatton, Steve Knepper, Mike Hess, MARA champion Craig Carey, Kevin Doty, Jerry Coons Jr., Rich Camfield and a host of others.

The MSCS sprint cars are also on the program, bringing Wingless sprint car competition to Spoon River for the first time ever. The entry list for the Spring Fling has grown to almost 70. 2004 MSCS champion Alex Shanks, Bryan Clauson, Shane Hollingsworth, and Justin Marvel will tangle with tough local competition from Korey Weyant, Chris Urish, and Robbie Standridge The MSCS Sprints will be competing for $1500 to win and $200 to start.

In addition to the sprints and midgets, UMP modifieds will be in competition for $500 to win and 4-cyclinder hornets will compete for $125 to win.

Pit gates open at 10:30. Spectator gates open at 1:00 and hot laps will hit the track at 2:00. The first heat will kick off at 3:00. Grandstand admission is $20. Children 7
-12 are $5. Children 6 & under will be admitted free of charge Pit passes are $25.
