STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Gears Up for June Jam at Bluegrass Speedway

The STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts gears up for the Second Annual "June Jam" this Saturday Night, June 14 at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY. The 30 lap main event will pay $3000 to the winner. It will be the fifth ever visit by Kentucky's Premier Dirt Late Model Sanctioning Body to the David and Anita Ferrell promoted 1/2 mile facility. It will also be more track time for those drivers preparing for the Dirt Track World Championship to be held at Bardstown in October. There will be a complete race program for the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass with Racing Optics Time Trials, Heat Races, AFCO B-Mains and the 30 Lap PPM Performance Products A-Main paying $3000 to win.

After six events there have been six different winners on the BoB tour with Scott James currently leading the series point's standings. Mike Marlar is second in points followed by Jesse James Lay, Tyrel Todd and Michael Chilton. A total of 113 different drivers have raced so far this season with the Battle of the Bluegrass. Johnny Wheeler leads the second ten in points followed by Jim Curry, Aaron Hatton, Timmy Yeager and 2002 Series Champion, Eddie Carrier, Jr.

So far this season at Bardstown it has been another competitive year for the track with Bryan Barber and 2002 track champion, Brad Neat scoring two victories in the young season so far. Single wins have come from Don O'Neal, Darrell Lanigan and former track champion, Tim Tungate.

In the previous four visits to Bardstown there have been four different winners in Battle of the Bluegrass competition. Rick Corbin, Eddie Carrier, Jr and Mike Jewell scored wins last year and in April of this year it was Don O'Neal coming home with the win. Another highly competitive battle should take place this Saturday Night at Bardstown.

Pit Gates will open at 3 pm with spectator gates opening at 5 pm. Also on the race program with the Battle of the Bluegrass Late Models will be Modifieds and Street Stocks. Adult General Admission is $15 with children ages 6-12 admitted for $8 with 6 and under free.
