After a weekend off the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts gets back to business this Friday Night, May 16th with an appearance at the McCoy Motor Speedway in Glasgow, KY. This event was originally scheduled to be the season opener for the BoB boys on April 25th but was rained out. The trip to Glasgow will now be the fourth points race of the 2003 racing season. It will be the first of three visits to Glasgow this year for the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass with the USA 50 in June and the Kentucky Klassic later in the season sanctioned by the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass. Friday's nights visit will see a full slate of dirt late model racing action at the Billy McCoy promoted 3/8ths mile high banked oval with Racing Optics Time Trials, Heat races, AFCO B-Mains and the PBM Performance Products 40 Lap "Spring 40" paying $3000 to win and $250 to start. The open wheel modifieds will also be running 20 laps for $1000 to win.
Those fans and drivers having rain checks from April 25 will be allowed to use those for this event. Since the race was postponed two hours before race time in April an entirely new draw for qualifying order will take place and any driver that had not shown up yet will be eligible to race. Heading into the race at Glasgow this Friday Mike Marlar of Winfield TN is currently leading the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Point Standings. A total of only 155 points separate first through 10th in the points. After three events there have been three different winners with Don O'Neal, Johnny Wheeler and Mike Marlar capturing series wins.
