Stars Shine on Central Kentucky this Weekend for STARS Battle of the Bluegrass

After seeing three different winners in three races this past weekend the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sports Shirts heads into the 2003 stretch run with two shows this coming Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20. On Friday Night, the series heads for the third time this year to the Legendary Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY for the running of the 4th Annual Hugh "Junebug" Rowland Memorial Race paying $3000 to win. In the previous visits this year to "The Pond" it has been the Johnny Wheeler show, with the "Wheelman" taking both event wins. There will be a complete show at Ponderosa for the BoB Boys with Racing Optics/Bullzilla Graphics Time Trials, Heat Races, AFCO B-Mains and the 40 lap PBM Performance A-main. Gates will open on Friday at 4 pm with time trials at 7:30 pm for more information please call the track office at (859) 854-6808. Previous winners of the Junebug Rowland Memorial include Dustin Neat, Jay Mobley and Don O'Neal.



On Saturday Night, September 20 it is one of the most anticipated events on the 2003 schedule as the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series heads to the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the "Bluegrass 50" which will feature a 50 lap main event paying $5000 to win. This event will also feature double-file restarts in the PBM Performance A-main. It will be the final big race tune-up before the $60,000 to win Dirt Track World Championship race at Bardstown to be held on October 18 and 19. Valuable track time will be important this weekend for the drivers with a complete show to be run with Racing Optics/Bullzilla Graphics Time Trials, Heat Races, AFCO B-Mains and the 50 lap A-main. It will be the seventh appearance in two years for the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Series to the 1/2 mile dirt track and the first time the series has sanctioned the "Bluegrass 50" Previous STARS BoB winners at Bardstown include: Rick Corbin, Eddie Carrier Jr, Don O'Neal, Darrell Lanigan and the only two time BoB winner at Bardstown, Mike Jewell. The 5th Annual Bluegrass 50 at Bardstown has been captured by Darrell Lanigan (2x), Kevin Claycomb and John Gill in the past. Pit Gates will open at 4 pm with spectator gates opening at 5 pm on Saturday. Hot laps will commence at 6:30 pm with time trials starting at 7 pm.
