Imperial, PA (April 10, 2014) Last summer, Smethport's Steve Dixon used an exciting victory at Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway to spring him ahead in the UEMS point chase and Dixon again may have used a huge win at PPMS to point him into a possible inaugural NDRL Modified Series title by capturing last night PENNational event.

Junior Nolan's team cars of Bart Hartman and Jake Hawkins set the pace from their front row positions with Hartman pulling away at the start. As the field rolled thru turns 3-4 behind Hartman, JE Stalder, Hawkins and Dixon made it three wide for second with NDRL Series leader Rich Michael and Randy Hall right in the mix. Hawkins would seal up second by the time the scrabble sorted itself out at the stripe for lap 1 to be completed. The first yellow came out on lap five for Jim Turley's spin in turn 2. Tenth place starter Jonathan Taylor was up to sixth already.

Hartman re-fired the field with Hawkins and Stalder battling for second, Michael would move up to fourth ahead of Dixon as series point leader was starting to move forward. As lap 9 clicks off the board, Hawkins suddenly slows and heads to the pits relinquishing second to Stalder and Jonathan Taylor was the car on the move as he was now up to fourth. The yellow lights flashed again for a driveshaft, lying in turn number one.

Hartman again starts the field but Steve Dixon, much like last year got a remarkable restart and goes from fifth to second. At the halfway mark it was still Hartman in control over Dixon Stalder, Michael and Mike Potosky now in the fifth position. With ten laps to go, Dixon was starting to close the gap on Hartman and a lap 17 yellow for Turley would make Dixon's life a little easier in chasing down the 'Bartman'! On the restart Dixon would shoot by Hartman at the start as the leader's car stumbled. Mike Potosky followed Dixon into third with Michael now fourth. Lap 19 yellow would be for Jeff Johnson who got into the turn one and two wall and Hartman would break under yellow relinquishing the second position to Potosky. The field would get one more lap in the books until a three car incident in turn 4 claimed the cars of Stalder, Kenny Johnson and Brian Huchko. The lineup was still Dixon on the point with Potosky, Evan Taylor who started 14th followed by his brother Jonathan and Rich Michael Jr.

The final five laps saw Dixon not seriously challenged for the checkers but Mike Potosky and Jonathan Taylor would run door to door to the stripe with Taylor edging Potosky for second. Evan Taylor came home fourth from his 14th starting spot followed by series opening night winner Rich Michael Jr. Randy Hall, Kenny Johnson, Chris Basich, Kevin Miller and JE Stalder rounding out the top 10.

Unofficially, Dixon takes over the point lead by four points from Michael Jr. The next schedule NDRL Modified Series event will be Friday, July 4th at the NDRL McKean Co Raceway in the USMC Cpl. Jason Dunham Memorial event.

Heat winners for the sixteen NDRL Modifieds were Hawkins and Dixon.
