“1999 Dirt Track World Champion tops the Behind the Wheel A-team driver standings”
(Ashland, KY) Steve Francis along with his Mopar and Valvoline sponsored Freeport Recycling Centers and Action Auto Mart crew will return to World of Outlaws Late Model Series competition on March 13th and 14th for the Hoosier 100 at Atomic Motor Speedway in Knoxville, TN.
Francis will unload the Valvoline/Mopar/Freeport Recycling Centers/Action Auto Mart sponsored Rocket Dodge Intrepid on Saturday, March 13 for a $5,000 to win 40 lap A-main event followed by a $12,000 to win 60 lap A-main event on March 14th. Steve’s last visit to the high banked oval was in the 2003 season where Francis finished 7th.
Going into this weekend’s events in Tennessee, Francis sits 6th in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship point standings, just 27 points behind the leader. Steve recorded the series first ever sanction win on February 3rd at Volusia Speedway Park and has 2 top-5 and 2 top-10 finishes in the first four events of the newly formed WoO series.
Steve’s strong and consistent racing efforts thus far this season earned the Kentucky Colonel first place in the Behind the Wheel A-team standings. Already this season, the three time former STARS Renegade DirtCar Series champion has scored three victories, claimed the Early Thaw championship in Arizona, and has an impressive average finish of 4th in 12 events.
