I am about to be looking for a machinist/ engine builder job as soon as i get out of school here in houston. Who are the major engine builders in the st.louis / east missouri area?

I'm about 2 hours east of St. Louis. If you can't find anyone over there that suits your needs let me know. I've builts tons of engines for Drag,Dirt track, and the Street. What kind of build are you wanting to do?

Hey wcre let me ask you a question I have a 400 block that has the lower rear right treads pulled out of the block for the headbolts. It has already been helicoiled and now the helicoil is not holding, is there a way to fix this or is the block junk?

I think you can use a 1/2"-7/16" thread sert. It's like a heli-coil
but solid. Be sure to measure everything out before doing the job. You don't want to get to thin between the thread-cert and the cylinder wall. Make sure to use green loctight to install it into the block.

What are you using this engine for? If it's for the street you might consider a new block. Dart has a new SHP block thats more the worth the money. You can go here to ask more about them.

Yes. I was looking for names of shops in the area to look at for job applications. Maybe i could also ask who as Engine Dyno's in the St.Luis area?

haha, this is sad, are there absolutly zero responses to my question and over 300 people have view this. Is there not any shops in the area with engine dyno's??? Is there not any machine/assembly shops either? Am i to assume that all of you race competetivly with a block machined from Uncle Johnny's Feed and Speed and motors put together in a dusty garage?

LOL....Do all my own machine work, and I've been around for a while. Thing is, I'm not in the area you're looking at and I'm not wanting to expand any larger then I am right now. Since I've never had to go looking for another shop I really don't know who is out there. Sorry I couldn't help. Good luck though.

Where is your shop located and what is the name of your business if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks, really just trying to find whats out there. I found Ron's Head Porting Service in the St.Charles area does really nice cylinder head work, but I have not found any other shops that build blocks or heads.

I go by Wayne County Racing Engines. I'm pretty much whats left of the old Wayne County Speed Shop. They were around since the 50s and were NHRA Pro Stock Champs in the mid 90s for a few years.
