STN Entries Pour in as Wednesday Pre-Entry Deadline Approaches

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (October 18, 2004) – Drivers planning on competing in the upcoming 17th Annual Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires at Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway on October 28-30 can save $100 by submitting their entry by Wednesday’s pre-entry deadline.

Entries postmarked by Wednesday, October 20, are just $150. After that date, the entry fee is $250, with no exceptions.

The current list of pre-entries for the prestigious $15,000-to-win and $1,700-to-start event reads like a “Who’s Who” list of Sprint Car racing, with ten states, including Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, South Dakota, Florida, Iowa, Texas, Tennessee, Illinois and Mississippi, along with Australia, represented among the early entries.

Headlining the early entries is three-time and defending race winner Gary Wright, who is poised to collect his first ASCS National title this weekend. Other past winners already entered include Pete Butler and Terry Gray.

Other premier early entries include newly-crowned Sprint Bandits champion Shane Stewart and younger brother Darren, 2003 ASCS National champion Travis Rilat, Florida hotshoe Kenny Adams, ASCS Sooner Region co-champion Kevin Ramey, the “Racin’ Cajun” Jason Johnson, Missouri aces Brian Brown, Jerrod Hull, Toby Brown and Tim and Joey Montgomery, Byhalia, MS, brothers Jan, Dale and Josh Howard, Australia native Kerry Madsen and South Dakotans Clint Garner and Dusty Zomer.

This year’s edition of the Short Track Nationals will feature the use of the popular Sprint Bandits qualifying procedure for Thursday and Friday night’s qualifying events. On qualifying nights, all entries may run both nights. Heats will be lined up according to the pre-race draw, with the qualifying races fully-inverted based upon passing points from heat races. The top 20 in combined heat and qualifying race points go to each night’s A Feature, with the top two finishers locked into Saturday’s Pack’s Dash for Cash, which will determine their starting position in the $15,000-to-win finale.

Saturday, the top earners in passing points from heat race action advance to the main event, with the balance of the field vying for the remaining starting slots through “C” and then “B” Features.

ASCS rules will be in effect, with mufflers mandatory (Schoenfeld 112535-no gutting). The weight rule of 1,475 pounds with the driver will be enforced, while the Hoosier medium/hard spec tire must be used on the right rear with any Hoosier tire utilized on the left rear.

Entry forms may be obtained at www.i-30speedway.com or by calling the track at 501-455-4567.
