CLARKSVILLE, TN - The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series
has announced a partial 2006 schedule for the National Touring Division.
The schedule has 16 confirmed points races, and four confirmed special
non-points races. There are still eight dates to be booked to fill out the
24 points-race schedule.
The 20 events on the 2006 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model
Series National Touring schedule feature 11 different tracks representing
seven different states.
"We wanted to get our schedule released with our confirmed
dates along with the open dates we have available, so our competitors could
go ahead and plan vacation time," StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series
Director Mike Vaughn said. "We are currently negotiating with several
tracks to fill the open dates we have posted."
Vaughn said the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series officials have had to
juggle their workload, as the series actually began the 2006 season while
putting it together.
"Having closed the 2005 season in December, and starting the 2006 season in
January, we really haven't had an off-season to do as much administrative
planning as we would have liked," Vaughn said. "Our staff is working hard
behind the scenes putting together not only the National Touring schedule,
but also the Weekly Racing Series, and at the same time running the 2006
events on the schedule."
The 2006 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour has already
completed its first event, as David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN won the January
8 race at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. The second National
points race of the season takes place on January 21 at Columbus Speedway in
Columbus, MS.
