CLARKSVILLE, TN – While most of his fellow Mississippi StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series drivers took the weekend off, Talbert Goldman snuck out to Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, TN on Saturday night, and a third-place finish put him on top of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region after the 11th week of the 24-week season.
Goldman has visited seven of the nine StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series sanctioned-tracks and now has 501 points to give him a 22-point lead over Herman Reynolds. Goldman has 13 starts, while Reynolds has 479 points in 12 starts.
Tony Albright stayed in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region Championship hunt with a win on Saturday night at Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway in Clarksville, TN. Albright is two points behind Reynolds with 477 points in 11 starts.
Steven Ashby, who has competed at Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway and Thunderhill Raceway, is fourth with 418 points in 11 starts. Another Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway regular, Brian Caudle, is fifth with 404 points in 11 starts. Landon Frith from Swinging Bridge Raceway in Jackson, MS is sixth with 393 points in 10 starts.
Owen Stockstill is seventh having accumulated 345 points in nine starts at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS, and Southern Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Kevin Watts from Pike County Speedway is eighth with 344 points in nine starts.
Jarrette Gunn is ninth with 332 points from Swinging Bridge Raceway, Pike County Speedway and Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS. Doug Todd rounds out the top ten with 329 points competing at Swinging Bridge Raceway and Whynot Motorsports Park.
Frith, Watts, Gunn and Todd all competed in the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National event on Friday and Saturday night at Swinging Bridge Raceway. Because of the National event, Mississippi StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series tracks Southern Speedway, Pike County Speedway, Whynot Motorsports Park, and Columbus Speedway all took the night off for their Crate Late Model Divisions.
Jason Wilson still leads the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region with 639 points in 15 starts at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Childersburg Speedway in Childersburg, AL. Wilson leads John Pierce by 16 points. Pierce took the win on Friday night at Childersburg Speedway.
Pierce has 623 points in 16 starts at Talladega Short Track and Childersburg Speedway. Pierce has also reached the 16-start mark, and can now only improve on his point total. Over the 24-week StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series season, a driver’s top 16 finishes count towards their final point total.
Carlton Freeman is in the third spot in the East Region with 511 points in 12 starts. Jimmy Elkins is fourth with 498 points in 14 starts. Freeman and Elkins both compete at Childersburg Speedway and Talladega Short Track.
Logan Yates took the win on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track, and is fifth in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region with 434 points in 11 starts at TST. Adam Martin is sixth with 404 points in nine starts at TST and Childersburg, and Steve Kirk is seventh with 382 points in 11 starts at TST.
Buddy George holds down the eighth position in the East Region with 370 points in 11 starts at Childersburg and TST, while Tim Staples is ninth with 351 points in nine starts at TST, and Chris Hill moved into the tenth spot with 305 points in nine starts at TST, Childersburg, and Thunder Mountain Speedway in Fyffe, AL.
