Gateway resumed their weekly points series this past Saturday with a record breaking event. In the second round of Super Pro Quarter mile eliminations, both Brian Gardner and Dave Schutte recorded perfect runs to win their round match-up. That was the first time in Gateway history that two perfect runs were recorded in the same round of the same class.

Brian Suhre got the win in Super Pro ¼ mile. Suhre battled through seven rounds of competition in his 06 Jesse Plant Dragster with the “small engine”. Suhre is still in the process of building the big engine so he can compete in NHRA Top Dragster competition.

“Some of the pieces for the big engine are supposed to come in this week, but after tonight the small engine may stay in the dragster for a little bit longer,” said Suhre.

Suhre defeated long time race Kevin Johnson in the final round. John Kaiman leads Super Pro Points with 107, Suhre and Kevin Prior follow in second by only 1 point.

Jerry Duncan earned his first win in twelve years in his “Hot Chocolate” 75 Vega (which is for sale!!!) Duncan won Gateway’s $2000 to win Super Pro 1/8 mile event. Duncan went seven rounds, eventually beating Ed Kennerly in the final round.

“I have a dragster and this doorslammer for sale. I plan on selling one and racing the other. I just now I hope the dragster sells first,” said Duncan after winning in the doorcar.

John Ratulowski got some vindication from his runner up finish in last years Pro Points standings, by beating Defending Pro Champion Ron Hendrixson in the Final Round. Ratulowski laid a .004 bulb on Hendrixson to help him get the win. Ratulowski - the 2003 Pro Champion, Hendrixson – the 2006 Pro Champion, and 2005 Pro Champion Clay Tyler are tied for the points lead with 140 points each.

David Gamber is on the roll of his lifetime. Gamber is on a three race winning streak. Gamber won Street ET in the first Points event, he followed that up by winning Gateway’s King of the Track at the NHRA O’Reilly Midwest Nationals, and got his third win in this event by going seven rounds and defeating Kevin Goss in the final round. With his two points events victories, David Gamber, the 2005 Division 3 Sportsman Champion, has a giant lead over the rest of the Street ET competitors, and is well on his way to winning his first Street ET Track Championship.

Janie Palm grabbed the lead in Gateway’s Pro Bike Points Standings by winning her first ever Pro Bike race. The multiple time Street Bike winner raced five rounds beating Dusty Katich in the Final Round. Palm was very excited to win in Pro Bike because of the big victory lane check!!!

Dusty Katich had a great night, not only was he a finalist in Pro Bike, but he also won Street Bike, and gained the points lead in Street Bike Points. Katich raced through four rounds of competition defeating 2006 Street Bike Champion “Dead Money” Denny Slusser in the final round.
