Locust Grove, Arkansas (7/19/08) – Jack Sullivan from Greenbriar, Arkansas proved that Friday night’s win in O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model action was no fluke as he charged from the 5th position to pick up his second straight feature win on Saturday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas.

Thirty-four Super Late Models, representing six states, signed in for night #2 of the O’Reilly MSRA vs. Allstate DLRA Super Late Model Challenge at Mooney Starr’s immaculately groomed Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas. After accumulating the most points in heat race action, Wendell Wallace earned the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier award behind the wheel of his #88 GRT/Gaerte Racing Engines entry. Wallace would assume the lead early in the event with 5th starting Jack Sullivan charging into the 2nd position in the early stages.

Sullivan would stalk Wallace, and would ultimately take advantage of lapped traffic to drive around Wallace for the lead. Wallace would begin to strongly pressure Sullivan for the top spot, however, as the race progressed Sullivan’s car began to handle better and better allowing him to stretch his advantage. The only caution of the event would fly on lap 16 of the 35 lap affair with 19 cars still on the lead lap.

With Sullivan and Wallace occupying the top two spots, Bill Frye assumed the third position for much of the event before being passed by Jesse Stovall late in the race. Stovall would make up considerable ground on Wallace for the second position, but was unable to make the pass.

Sullivan went on to take the $3,000 top prize. Sullivan has won the past three O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model events that he has entered, and is the only three time winner on the tour in the 2008 season. Rounding out the top five were Wendell Wallace, Jesse Stovall, Bill Frye, and Duke Whiseant.
The race within the race involved the top two in the point standings, Joey Mack and Jeff Floyd. The pair would stage a race long duel before Floyd picked up a 7th place finish with Mack finishing in 10th. Via their finishes, Floyd trims Mack’s points lead to a mere 27 points.

In heat race action it was Wendell Wallace and Jeff Floyd charging from their 4th and 5th starting spots to finish in first and second, respectively, with Patrick Johnson in third in heat race #1.

Heat race #2 would see Chris Jones motor away from the field from his pole starting positions with his teammate, Steve Rushin in second, and Jeff Sloan in third.

In heat race #3, Duke Whiseant from Texarkana, Texas drove from his second starting position to pick up the win over Justin Wells, and Jesse Stovall.

Heat race #4 would see a horrific wreck on lap one that resulted in heavy damage to Shane Diamant and Dane Dacus. Frye would go on to win the race over Jack Sullivan and Tony Jackson Jr.

In b-main #1 action, Tony Jackson Jr. and Stacey Taylor claimed the transfer spots. Kyle Beard was battling for a transfer spot, when he lost a wheel. He was forced to use an O’Reilly MSRA provisional for the feature.

In b-main #2 action, the Father and Son combo of Ken Essary and Leslie Essary swept the transfer spots.

O’Reilly MSRA provisionals for the feature event were Jon Kirby and Kyle Beard with the Allstate DLRA tour granting provisionals to Dustin Mooneyham and Patrick Johnson.

The Weld Wheels Hard Luck Award went to Dewaine Hottinger. Hottinger had mechanical difficulties in his heat race and charged from the back of a b-main only to fall a few spots short of a transfer.

The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger was Stacey Taylor, who advanced from his 19th starting position to a 9th place finish.

Jack Sullivan was the recipient of the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus.
The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series would like to thank Batesville Motor Speedway and Mooney Starr for preparing a top notch racing surface each night. With the same tire rule in effect as will be run at the upcoming COMP Cams Topless 100, many of the teams were able to do some testing for the event.

The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models return to action next Sunday, July 27th at Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri as they once again square off in a challenge event against the Allstate DLRA Super Late Models in a $2,000 to win/$450 to start clash.
