LEXINGTON, KY (February 4, 2007)- Sunoco Race Fuels will again be the official fuel of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2007 after a very successful partnership with the series in 2006. "Sunoco Race Fuels ongoing relationship with the national touring series, staff, and drivers that follow the series was instrumental in renewing our contract again. The series has provided tremendous publicity and exposure for Sunoco Race Fuels and the willingness of so many of the drivers that follow the series to help promote and market our fuel was a key factor as well", stated Don VanValkenburgh, National Sales Manager for Sunoco Performance Products.
Sunoco Race Fuels driver Earl Pearson Jr. won the 2006 series championship and is the two-time defending champion of the series and the 2006 World 100 winner. Four out of the top five drivers on the series in the final point's standings were Sunoco Race Fuel drivers. Steve Casebolt, another Sunoco Race Fuels driver finished 6th in the final points standings and won the 2006 Rookie of the Year Award on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Dennis Erb Jr. also won the 2006 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Winternationals points championship at East Bay Raceway during speedweeks 2006. Dennis used Malcuit Race Engines fueled by HCR Plus and was one of only five drivers that made the feature every night of the six nights events run at East Bay Raceway Park. HCR Plus is specifically targeted for racing engines with a very high compression ratio that operate under sustained high speeds and loads. It has an (R+M)/2 octane rating of 114. It contains no oxygenates and will tolerate a lot of heat which helps resist vapor locking. The fuel is leaded, so it is for off-road use only.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series currently has 38 races scheduled for 2007 with the season starting in Tampa Florida February 5-10th at the East Bay Winternationals. The national touring series has recently signed a three year contract with SPEED Channel to continue to broadcast series events on their network.
