McCool Junction, NE – Kevin Swindell of Germantown, TN won the O’Reilly POWRi presented by Lucas Oil “Cornhusker Midget Challenge” at Junction Motor Speedway Wednesday night. Swindell, who won the previous night’s preliminary event, started third driving the Cruz Pedregon Racing Advanced Auto Parts Toyota powered midget. Brad Kuhn of Avon, IN started on the pole and led the first 11 laps on the heavy 3/8 mile high bank dirt oval. Phoenix Arizona’s Chad Boat, who started on the outside front row, held on to Kuhn’s bumper until lap 12 when he passed Kuhn for the lead. Boat would pace the field while Kuhn battled Swindell for second. Swindell made the move on Kuhn on lap 14 and set his sights on Boat. On lap 17 the only yellow of the night came out for the stalled car of Daniel Robinson. On the re-start, Boat would keep the lead with Swindell waiting for his chance to move around him. On lap 20, Boat would bobble coming out of turn 4 giving Swindell a chance to dive to the bottom for the pass. Swindell would lead the final 10 laps with Boat giving close chase while Swindell navigated through lapped traffic. Swindell would beat Boat to the line by a car length followed by Davey Ray, who started 7th, Kuhn and Dave Darland rounding out the top five.
