Talker Guy's Christmas Poem

The Night Before the Nationals
T'was the night before the Nationals
And outside the track,
The "Zesty Boys" were shoving
Cold beer in a sack.

The fans they were waiting
In line at the gate
Hoping that "Bloomer"
Wouldn't show up too late.

The officials were snuggled
All tight in their shack,
Hoping that the racers
Wouldn't give them much ......stuff!

The trophies were polished
From bottom to top,
As the "Zesty Boys" were busted
By the big Rent-A-Cop.

Then out in the pits
I heard such a clapper,
I ran to the fence
To see what was the matter.

And what to my wondering
Eyes did appear
Ray Marler doing doughnuts
On the big green John Deere.

He was turning and shouting
"Get out of my way,
I've worked very hard
Now it's my turn to play".

The crews and the drivers
All knew it was true
Too many circles
Had taken its due.

They got the Deere stopped
Then called Air Evac
It was time to get Ray
Away from the track

As they loaded him up
He looked real nice
But kept yelling loudly
Hamburgers - Half Price!

The End.
