2014 Celebration of Champions Set for Saturday January 31, 2015

Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff will honor its top racers of the 2014 racing season at the track’s 2014 Celebration of Champions, which will take place on Saturday January 31, 2015. The 2014 Celebration of Champions will take place on Saturday January 31, 2015 in the Pork Producers Building at the Central Kentucky AG/EXPO Center, located at 678 South Wallace Wilkinson Boulevard in Liberty, KY 42539. Doors for the event will open at 1:00 p.m., while a meal will be served at 2:00 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony. Dress for the event will be casual. The cost for the event will be $6 per person. The top ten drivers in points in each division will be honored at the celebration. Track champions for the 2014 season were as follows: Super Late Models- Dion Benningfield of Lebanon, KY; Modifieds- Ryan Thomas of Gosport, IN; Pro Late Models- Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY; Sportsman- Glen Hounshell, Jr. of Mount Vernon, KY.

Open Practice Test and Tune and 2015 Season Opening Dates Set

The 2015 racing campaign will begin on Saturday March 21 with an open practice test and tune session for racers in all divisions, beginning at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon and concluding at 5:00 p.m. The 2015 season will officially get the green flag the following weekend on Friday March 27 when the KDRA Super Stocks (formerly known as Sportsman) will be highlighted in a $600 to win event, along with a full racing program for Pro Late Models and Modifieds, while Super Late Models will only practice on that evening, but will join the racing program the following weekend on Friday April 3.

2015 Will Be the Richest Season in the History of Ponderosa Speedway!

There will be LOTS of money and special events on the docket at Ponderosa Speedway in 2015, making it the richest season to date in the history of the storied Junction City, KY facility. The Ray Cook promoted Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals returns to Ponderosa Speedway on Friday April 3 for the 3rd Annual Spring Showdown, paying $4,000 to win for Super Late Models, along with $2,000 to win for Pro Late Models, $1,000 to win for Modifieds, and $600 to win for KDRA Super Stocks. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will make its first-ever appearance at “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Friday May 8, with Super Late Models racing for $10,000 to win and Modifieds paying $2,500 to win. The 5th Annual Weekend Warrior event goes on Friday June 19, paying $800 to win for Pro Late Models and $600 to win for KDRA Super Stocks. The following evening on Saturday June 20, the 18th Annual Pete Abell Memorial will take place, paying $3,000 to win for Super Late Models and $1,000 to win for Modifieds. The track will does its part to celebrate America’s 239th birthday as the 15th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland will take place on Friday July 3, with Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win. The 12th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial is set for Friday August 21 and will again be sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series, paying $15,012 to win for Super Late Models, along with Modifieds racing for $2,500 to win, Pro Late Models $800 to win, and KDRA Super Stocks $600 to win. The track will then be a part of the Revelution Race Cars Iron Man Speedweek 2015 sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series on Friday September 4 as the 4th Annual Red Clay Bash will pay $3,000 to win. The dates of October 8 through October 10 will definitely be marked on all calendars as the track will present its richest stock car event in history as the 25th Annual Fall Classic will be sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series and will pay a hefty $25,000 to win for Super Late Models that weekend, along with Modifieds racing for $5,000 to win. There will be an open practice on Thursday October 8, with time trials and qualifying heats on Friday October 9, while B-Mains and A-Mains will be contested on Saturday October 10. Pro Late Models and KDRA Super Stocks will also be in action.
