(Bright, IN) “The Silver Shark” Scott James picked up a couple of Top Ten runs this past weekend and more importantly, grabbed the Battle of the Bluegrass Series point lead. Scott James Motorsports competed on Friday night in the Battle of the Bluegrass event at McCoy Motor Speedway in Glasgow, KY and on Sunday night in the Northern Allstar Series show at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY. The event at Bardstown was scheduled to be a Saturday night show, but because of persistent rain showers, the event was postponed until Sunday.

The weekend started off fast for Scott and his crew, as they clicked off fast time and earned the Racing Optics Time Trial award at the $3,000 to win event at Glasgow. The team went on to post a second place finish in their heat race, which transferred them into the feature event. In the opening laps of the event, Scott was racing up towards the front in his Baylor Trucking / Powell Motorsports #83 Lazer G-2 Monte Carlo when his front end was severely damaged after another car came across his car. Scott pitted to fix the damage and wound up tenth in the feature after rebounding from the early race incident. The Top Ten run would give Scott the Battle of the Bluegrass point lead by 50 points.

At Bardstown on Sunday, “The Silver Shark” also finished second in his heat race to advance to the $5,000 to win Northern Allstar Late Model Series show. During the feature, Scott would advance five positions on the ‘rubbered up’ surface at Bluegrass Speedway. He ended up finishing third in the event and was battling hard for the second position when he received the checkered flag.

Scott will try to stretch out his point lead in the Battle of the Bluegrass Series when they hit the track again this Saturday night for the annual “Ralph Latham Memorial” at Florence Speedway in Union, KY. The event will pay $5,000 to win and will feature double-file restarts on all cautions during the feature event. After competing at Florence, the team will travel north to the world-famous Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH for a $2,000 to win ALMS race. The annual tune-up for the $100,000 Dream 100, which will be held in two weeks, will draw a strong field of cars to the ½-mile, high banked oval in west-central Ohio. Keep up with Scott James Motorsports all year long at their official website located at www.scottjamesmotorsports.com.
