(Glencoe, AL) 6/30/09 – The wait is over… this past Friday night was the final race before this weekends $25,000. to-WIN, billed the BIGGEST EVER Crate Late Model dirt race, on the PLANET, CRATE NATIONALS at Green Valley Speedway near Gadsden, Alabama. The track and it’s staff including owner Dennis Harker are in full prep mode for this weekends MEGA EVENT. “This is hopefully shaping up to be a wonderful event, spirits are high for this first ever extravaganza. There are cars from all over planning on entering the race and they can look forward to an exciting weekend, as well as the fans.” states Harker. The JUNGLE is planning on being the home of this MARQUEE racing event, not only in 2009, but for future years to come.

2008 NeSmith Crate Late Model series champion Chip Brindle and 2007 FASTRAK ($50,000) Crate series champion William Thomas split a pair of $1,000 to-WIN Crate Late Model features, last Friday, serving as a final warm-up to this weekends GVS CRATE NATIONALS. Oddly enough the two virtually swapped out the TWIN races as both would respectfully finish 4th in the race they DIDN’T win. This weekends race hosts many sponsors that help provide the side-by-side and 3-wide racing action at GVS. Continental Coin Laundries, Carrollton Hydraulics, S.R.R.S, Hoosier Racing Tires, Kilpatrick Chevrolet, Bearden Oil (Sunoco Racing Fuels), MasterSbilt Racecars, Talladega (AL) Short Track, Grissom Honda, Z-93 Radio are all putting up lap money for the CRATE NATIONALS this weekend.

An estimated $70,000 in posted prize money is up for grabs as the minimum to just start the 100-lapper Saturday night is $1,000. Twenty-five starters are going to take the green flag according to the tracks web-site, with a possibility of three add-ons (at the promoters discretion). The largest FIREWORKS SHOW ever at GVS will take place on Saturday and racefans and teams can tune-in to announcer Perry Holman for all the action and information on 96.7FM radio. Thursday gates open at 10AM CST, with practice beginning at 6PM that evening. Friday the Drivers Meeting is at 4PM. After Qualifying Time Trials, 6-Heat Races will lock in 18-Crate LM’s to Saturdays “A” Main feature. Saturday Drivers Meeting is at 5PM, prior to the Consi.’s, Non-Qualifiers Race and the 100 lap “A” Main Feature. All this information and more is on the GVS web-site www.greenvalleyspeedway.com.
