New Florence, MO (July 6, 2003) Don O'Neal claimed his third straight UMP Summer Nationals victory with a win at Montgomery County Speedway in New Florence, MO. O'Neal got the night started off by setting a new track record in qualifying with a lap of 11.944 seconds around the high banked 1/4 mile oval.

O'Neal started the feature on the outside of the front row with Billy Drake, who had the pole after winning the dash earlier. At the drop of the green flag Drake jumped out to the early lead and Kevin Weaver also moved past O'Neal and took the second spot while O'Neal settled into the third position. An early caution flew on lap five as Don Hammer spun in turn four. Drake reassumed the lead on the restart as he and Weaver pulled away from the pack. The leaders moved into heavy lapped traffic by lap twenty five allowing O'Neal and Dennis Erb to close in on the leaders. With the lapped cars racing side by side there was contact between the lapped car of Hammerle and Weaver, sending Hammerle spinning into the infield, which allowed O'Neal to move past Weaver for the second position. The race stayed green during this incident but the caution flew two laps later when Brian Shirley slowed coming out of turn two.

On the final restart Drake reassumed the lead again but had O'Neal glued to his rear bumper. O'Neal began to work the middle groove and raced Drake side by side for several laps before finally pulling past Drake on the outside. O'Neal went on to claim the $6,000 first place prize. Drake was second, Billy Moyer moved past Weaver late in the race to claim third. Shannon Babb followed Weaver across the line to claim fifth.

Jim Shereck of St. Charles, MO took home the win the UMP Modified feature. Shereck led all 30 laps as he held off the early challenges of Rick Stevenson and then later held off Leroy Haney. Haney took second and John Seets was third.
