O'REILLY AUTO PARTS MID-AMERICA RACING SERIES
Thursday, July 3; Delta Bowl Speedway
Friday, July 4; Malden Speedway
Saturday, July 5; Batesville Speedway

BATESVILLE AR. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series will celebrate the Independence Day weekend with three events in three states. The series will make it's first ever trip to the Delta Bowl Speedway in Tunica, Mississippi on Thursday, July 3. The brand new track opened earlier in the year, and is a 3/8 mile high banks, ultra fast state of the art facility.

A note to all drivers, the Delta Bowl Speedway requires mufflers on all cars. If you do not have mufflers, you will not be allowed to race.

From there, the series will move to the Malden Speedway on Friday, July 4. This was suppose to be the second trip of the year to the Southeast Missouri 3/8 mile oval, but that event, as well as the original make-up date was rained out. Finally, the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. cars will finish the weekend at the Batesville Speedway on Saturday, July 5. This will be the third trip of the year to Batesville, and Leslie Essary and Jeff Floyd have taken the first two events this year at the track.

Each night will see the drivers attempt to qualify for the 40 Lap main event worth $3,000 to win, and guarentee each starter $500. Valuable points are being accumulated by each driver towards the season ending points fund worth over $100,000. The series winner is slated to pick up a $30,000 check in December at the annual awards banquet.

Terry Phillips, of Springfield Missouri, is definatly the man to beat this year on the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. tour. Phillips has racked up six series wins already, and leads the points standings at this point. Phillips has a 48 point margin over second place running Jeff Taylor.

Taylor, of Batesville, Arkansas, is in second place behind Phillips, and has one series win to his credit, which came early in May at the Memphis Motorsports Park. Bill Frye of Greenbriar, Arkansas, picked up his second series win of the year at the Tulsa Speedway. Frye, who had gotten off to a slow start, is now worked his way to third in series points, and is just eight markers behind Taylor for the second spot.

Leslie Essary of Crane, Missouri is fourth in series points. Essary notched a win this year in the series opener at the Batesville Speedway in April. Essary has struggled a bit as of late, but is still very much in the hunt, running fourth in series points.

Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas is another driver who's stock has been rising since the season opened. Floyd picked up his first win of the season in June at the Batesville Speedway, and is within striking distance of Essary in fourth. Floyd has erased a near 100 point deficite that stood between himself and fourth place.

Jerry Buck of Harviell, Missouri eased back into sixth in series points, but is just two points ahead of Mike Brown of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma. The pair have had a see-saw battle for that spot in the points over the last several weekends.

Mike Bowers of North Little Rock, Arkansas had gotten off to a very rocky start in 2003, but Bowers has clawed his way into the top ten in series points. A top five at the Tulsa Speedway has helped propell Bowers back into more framiliar territory in the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. tour.

Dewaine Hottinger of Russellville, Arkansas sets in nineth in series points. Hottinger had a tough weekend the last time out. Hottinger, however, has had several good runs this year, and always runs well at the Batesville Speedway. Hottinger is in a tight three way battle for position with Bowers, and Steve Rushin.

Rushin, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri has fallen to the tenth spot in series points, but is only eight points back of eighth place Mike Bowers. Rushin is another driver that started slowly this year, but has seen his fortunes improve some lately.

Charlie Randolph of Muskogee, Oklahoma has fallen outside the top ten of series points, but still leads the Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year competition. Joey Mack of Benton, Missouri is in 12th in series points, but is another driver that started slow, but has been running better as of late.

Shane Essary of Aurora, Missouri is 13th in series points, but runs second in Kuntz & Co. rookie points. Gary Stolba of Willow Springs, Missouri is up to 14th in points after being victumized by a slow start. Jack Sullivan of Greenbriar, Arkansas has improved to 15th in series points, and is the third place Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year competition.

Stacy Taylor of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Jerry Walker of Southhaven, Mississippi are another pair of O'Reilly M.A.R.S. regulars that are expected to be on hand.
