Anything can happen as three drivers battle for championship with four races remaining

MILLSTADT, Ill. (Sept. 10, 2007) – The O’Reilly POWRi National Midget Series championship fight could get interesting this weekend when the series visits two prime Illinois tracks as the 2007 season winds down for both POWRi and Midget racing altogether in the Midwest.

Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill. – which hosted the series’ season opener – and Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. host races Friday and Saturday respectively, and only three drivers has a shot at taking the series crown.

Brad Loyet (Sunset Hills, Mo.) leads Brad Kuhn (Avon, Ind.) by 170 points and Mike Hess (Petersburg, Ill.) by 315 with only four races remaining. The races are the only dirt Midget events in the Midwest during the weekend, and both will pay $2,000 to the winner.

Loyet owns four victories to Hess’s three and Kuhn’s one. Loyet and Kuhn each won races in August, while Hess’s last victory came in June. Prior to this current lead, Loyet last led the standings after the season-opening race win at Morgan County, a race in which defending series champion Kuhn did not compete. This is the first race at Spoon this season, and will be called the Tom Knowles Memorial.

The 600cc Micro-Sprints will also take to the track Friday in their supporting role to the National Midget Series. Dereck King (Vienna, Ill.) owns a 855-point advantage over Tony Roney (Herculaneum, Ill.). Only three races will remain after this weekend.
