This Monday evening special guests from the worlds of Modified, dirt Late Model and Sprint Car racing will all be featured on DIRT NATION presented by Switchme.net, one of the hottest dirt racing oriented radio programs to hit the airwaves. Drivers, sanction officials and a track official will all be on hand for another edition on Monday February 21. Gary Tomkins of Clifton Springs, NY will be a featured guest on Dirt Nation presented by Switchme.net. Tomkins, 38, in 2004 claimed for the first time in his career the coveted overall Hoosier Tire‑Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRT Modified Championship crown. Tomkins also won the big-block point titles at both Brewerton Speedway and Rolling Wheels Raceway aboard the Honeoye Auto Parts-Beechy Motorsports #1 owned by Elaine and Jim Beachy.
Once the 2005 racing season kicks off J.R. Gentry, 25, will partnered with Doug Drown, 22, two second-generation drivers who will become a two-car dirt Late Model team for Drown Racing of Wooster, OH. Both drivers’ fathers, Jim Gentry and Jeff Drown, raced against each other, and on occasion for the same team, over a span of three different decades. Both young central Ohio stars have earned multiple Rookie of the Year titles and feature wins in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Drown will be driving the Wooster Glass, Inc./Hite’s Racing Stables sponsored Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines #12 while Gentry will be behind the wheel of the Wooster Glass, Inc./Hite’s Racing Stables sponsored Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines #14.
Hot off the heels of the largest car count in East Bay Raceway Park Winternationals history Lucas Oil NARA DirtCar Series President Spencer Wilson, P.R. Director/Series Announcer James Essex and Event Coordinator Rick Schwallie will appear to discuss their successful week long stint sanctioning the recent 29th Annual East Bay Winternationals and what lies ahead for the rest of the 2005 for the fast-growing dirt Late Model series.
Also appearing will be Knoxville (IA) Raceway rep Bruce Neimeth who is in charge of business development at Knoxville Raceway. Neimeth, along standing and well-respected member of the dirt racing community since the 1950’s, will be on hand to talk about the upcoming season at the legendary track, the television packages the track put together and will discuss the state of the sport and weekly racing.
