MACON, Ill. – The USAC Tony Bettenhausen 100 for Silver Crown cars has been rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 7, in a complete show on the Springfield Mile at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, USAC and Track Enterprises announced Monday. The Bettenhausen 100 on the rescheduled date will include qualifying and the 100-lap race. Tickets from the original date will be honored on Sept. 7.
Combined with a POWRi midget program at Macon Speedway on Sept. 6 with double features in the midget and outlaw micro divisions, it makes for an exciting open wheel weekend.
The Bettenhausen 100 is an 80-year-old national championship race filled with tradition, excitement, thrills and color on the Springfield Mile, billed as the world’s fastest mile dirt track. Practice is set for 10 a.m. with qualifying before the race at 1:30 p.m. Grandstands open at 9 a.m. For tickets, call 217-764-3200.
“The Silver Crown series is going in a positive direction,’’ said USAC series director Andy Hillenburg. “With race organizer Bob Sargent’s support, we are delighted to be able to retain this marquee event for our fans and participants as we continue to strive for the prominence this series deserves.’’

Some of those same drivers from the USAC Silver Crown division may also return Sept. 6 to Macon Speedway, where POWRi has scheduled double features in both POWRi midgets and outlaw micros. The POWRi cars zip around Macon Speedway, a high-banked fifth-mile oval located just nine miles south of Decatur on U.S. Route 51. Built in 1946, Macon Speedway was originally designed as a midget track. Midget drivers enjoy racing here, because there are plenty of slide jobs in every corner.
POWRi lineups have been set for one feature during a program on April 26. Justin Peck is the polesitter with Christopher Bell also in the front row, followed by Zach Daum and Rico Abreu in the second row ahead of Robbie Ray and Tanner Thorson in the third row.

Track Enterprises and USAC officials have announced rescheduling of the “Tony Bettenhausen 100,” which was interrupted by rain Saturday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, for Sunday afternoon, September 7.
Rains began to fall as the cars were approaching the “one-to-go” signal is preparation for the 100-mile race on the one-mile dirt oval. Tracy Hines posted the fastest qualifying time to win the pole position, while Kody Swanson, the series point leader who has won all three dirt-track outings this season, had lined up on the outside of the front row in the 24-car starting field.
A complete new program will face competitors at Springfield September 7, with practice at 10 am, qualifying and the 100-mile race on tap at 1:30 pm. Grandstand spectator gates open at 9 am. Tickets and pit passes from August 16 will be honored on September 7. Race fans wishing to secure tickets for the September 7 race can contact Track Enterprises at 217-764-3200 or at trackenterprises.com.
