The 21 year old Knowles, who is currently in his 12th year of racing, pilots the #26 RSD Enterprises/SAE Parts/Rocket Chassis/Custom Race Engine Super Late Model at tracks across the country. After spending the early years of his racing career, driving Go-Karts and Street Stocks, Tony burst onto the Super Late Model scene in 2007, when he picked up his first ever win in the division in the Winter Classic at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. Since the win, Knowles has picked up several feature wins in the Super Late Model division, and in 2008, the team began to travel to more national events. In 2009, the team looks to run a vast national schedule, hitting a majority of the crown jewel events in addition to events with various tours.
This past weekend, Tony Knowles Racing competed at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Alabama in the Fall Late Model Nationals. On Friday night with 29 Super Late Models on hand to battle for the $2,500 top prize, Tony recorded a time that would earn him the 4th fastest lap overall. As a result, he started 4th in the main event. He would battle in the top five throughout the 25 lap event, before recording a solid 4th place finish.
On Saturday night Tony competed in the second night of the Fall Late Model Nationals at Deep South Speedway. Tony qualified third in time trials, which earned him a third starting position for the 40 lap, $4,000 to win feature event. In the feature, Knowles would battle his way home to a sixth place finish.
This weekend, November 21st-22nd, the team will travel to Green Valley Speedway in Gadsden, Alabama for the Super Late Model Championship. The event will see drivers from seven different series coming together to battle in a pair of $2,500 To Win/$250 To Start events. In addition, the driver, who accumulates the most points between the two race nights will receive a $1,000 bonus for his efforts.
