Track Enterprises 2002 Season Comes To A Close

Track Enterprises, Inc. has had a busy 2002 season this year with racing every Friday night at the Farmer City Raceway, plus special events held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, Paducah International Raceway, Quincy Raceway, and the Terre Haute Action Track.

The special events started in Paducah, KY with Ken Schrader Night racing in his UMP Late Model on May 15. The UMP Spring Nationals were held in DuQuoin on May 19 with Shannon Babb winning for the Late Models and Jimmy Owens for the Modified. The Pennzoil World of Outlaws were in Farmer City on June 7 with Stevie Smith winning the feature event. Ken Schrader was in Quincy on July 16 along with some of the top UMP Late Model drivers. The weekend of June 22 & 23 was full of action as the
United States Hot Rod Associations Monster Trucks invaded the Illinois State Fairgrounds with some of the top names putting on a show the fans won’t forget. The final weekend of the Illinois State Fair, the USAC Silver Crown cars, the ARCA Re/Max Series, and the Wynn’s Sportsman Nationals made their way into town with Frank Kimmel winning the ARCA race, J.J. Yeley won the USAC race, and Jeff Leka won the Wynn’s Sportsman feature. Back to DuQuoin Labor Day weekend for another great weeke!
nd of racing including the ARCA, USAC and UMP Modified cars, with appearances from Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart, Andy Petree and Red Farmer. Frank Kimmel won the ARCA race, J.J. Yeley won the USAC race and Brian Shaw won for the Modified division. The final stop was back in Springfield for the 11th Annual Turbo Blue Illinois Fall Nationals, with Brian Birkhofer winning the Late Model feature and Jim Shereck winning the Modified feature event. The Farmer City Raceway Track Champions for the 2002 season were Roger Long of Fithian - UMP Late Models, Jeff Leka of Buffalo - UMP Modified, Rod Sandage of Bloomington - Sportsman, and Jim
Palmer of White Heath - Street Stock.

The Terre Haute Action Track held twelve events this year starting with the Tony Hulman Classic on May 11. The World of Outlaws were in town on June 8 and back on July 14. The USAC sprints made their way to the Action Track along with the USAC Silver Crown cars several times throughout the season. NASCAR Night was held on August 6, with Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader racing in their UMP Late Models. The UMP Modified cars put on a good show for every event running a tight points battle to the end with Ray Humphrey winning the battle.
