CARTERSVILLE, GA – Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL has clinched the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge. Wins by Cliff Williams of Star, MS, Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS and Tim Knight of Selmer, TN in NeSmith Chevrolet WRS Week 24 competition sealed the deal for Trak-Star’s second straight title.

Williams won the first of two feature races on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS in the Ware Construction Trak-Star, and McDuffie won the second feature in the H.E. Mosley, Inc. Trak-Star. Knight picked up his first win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL driving the Knight Enterprises Trak-Star.

With three weeks to go in the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season, and a total of 13 events still to be run, Trak-Star Race Cars has 61 wins. That gives Trak-Star Race Cars an 18-point advantage over three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR.

GRT Race Cars had three wins in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Week 24 competition on Saturday night to bring their season win total to 43. GRT Race Cars has clinched the second spot in the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge.

Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL posted his fifth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region win of the season on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the United Bank GRT. Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA took his first win of the season on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA in the Ludwig Racing GRT.

Dana Eiland of Salem, AL drove the Andy’s Auto Parts GRT to his third win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL. Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL finished seventh on Saturday night at EAMS to clinch the second spot in the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point standings and the $1,000 prize driving the Clarence’s Truck Repair GRT.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third in the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with 20 wins, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is fourth with six wins, and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fifth with three wins.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point leader Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS picked up his 13th win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and netted two points to now give him a five-point lead over the three-time and defending West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS.

Keeton finished second to Stokes at HMP on Friday night to net one point. Neither Stokes nor Keeton were able to net any points on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, as Keeton had two fifth-place finishes and Stokes turned in a sixth and seventh-place finishes.

There are still five possible starts left in the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region season, and Stokes can still post a perfect score of 950 points. Stokes now has 945 points, and Keeton, who now has 940 points can still earn a possible 947 points if he takes five 50-point wins. That means Stokes has to net three more points to clinch the championship.

Stokes’ four lowest point totals in his current best 16 finishes are one 48 and three 49s. Keeton’s five lowest point totals in his current best 16 finishes are two 48s and three 49s. A driver’s Regional is based on his best 16 finishes plus up to 150 bonus points for competing in up to six NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event.

The perfect score of 950 points represents 16 50-point wins and 150 bonus points. A driver earns 50 points for a win with a car count of eight or more, and 40 points for a win with car count of seven or less. There is a one-point drop off for each position behind the winner.

Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL had a pair of second-place finishes on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park to move up to the third spot in the West Region point standings with 918 points in 16 starts and remain in championship contention. J-Mac can still net on two 41s, a 44, a 46 and a 49. With five 50-point wins, McRee can still earn a possible 947 points.

Williams is still fourth in the West Region standings with 896 points in 16 starts, and in his next five starts can net on a 25, two 41s and two 47s. Five 50-point wins for Williams would give him the potential to earn a possible 945 points.

In both the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West and East Regions, the Champion will pocket $1,500 plus a new GM Performance 604 Crate Engine. The second-place drivers earn $1,000, and the third-place drivers earn $500. In the West Region, four drivers, Stokes, Keeton, McRee and Williams, are competing for the first three spots.

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL has already clinched the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing East Region Championship, and Nowell has clinched the second spot. Three drivers are competing for the third spot in the East Region standings with a possible two races left on the 2010 schedule.

Ryan King of Anniston, AL, Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL and Maher are all in the running for the third spot and the $500 prize in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point standings.

King is currently third with 862 points based on his best 16 finishes. King can earn a possible 875 points if he nets on a 43 and a 44 with 50-point wins in his next two starts.
