transmission problem

This does not involve racing, but any mechanic out there know the labor price and removal of a transmission on a 2001 Cadillac with a northstar motor, does motor and transmission have to come out together, or just trans, also about how much labor time involved. Have a customer that needs estimate this weekend, and I don't have access to labor rates till monday, any help would be great
 
worked at cadillac dealer until 2005. had many tranny's out. going by memory, but its right at 13 hours r&r trans.that will get you REALLY close. we had an engine fixture that allowed the engine to be dropped down a bit, but stayed up in the chassis. the subframe came out totally, and then the tranny. if i can be of any help, ont hesitate to holler.art.
 
Midget Racer is right. You pretty much need the fixture. You should be able to rent one. They're a pain, but hey 13 hrs pay and only racking one car is kinda nice......
