Tri-City Invert ??????

What is up with the invert at Tri-City????? It is bad enough that they even invert the feild and screw the guys that worked hard to get a good spot up front for the feature. But now they started drawing a different invert # for every class.Last night the late models inverted 6 The sportsman inverted 4 and the street stocks inverted 8. This is about the dumbest thing I have ever seen. If you are going to invert the feild, Invert the every class the same. It makes it easier for all the drivers to figure out were they start. I figure if you going to invert the field, Invert all classes the same or get rid of the invert all together. Just my 2 cents. cblgy11

cblgy11 what's the problem with inverting the same number of cars every week? one word: sandbagging. If everybody knows, for instance, that 6 will be inverted, how hard do you think the 3rd place runner will race in his heat--assuming there's two heats in his/her class?

I think a passing point system should be used: Using last night's TCS racing as an example, Terry James and Shannon Kuhn might start the front row, as each passed 3 cars in their heat and one car in the dash, for a margin of +4. Conversely, Dan Dondero would start near the back under my system, as he lost a lot of positions(-3 margin) after starting up front in his heat and getting sent to the back after getting together with Justin Anderson. Just a thought.

The invert is a long-standing tradition at TCS. The Late Models, however, were not inverted. The dash winner went for the money, and that puts him in 3rd row outside. The rest of the dash starts the feature straight up according to their finish. That's why Krankel, who finished 2nd in the dash, was the pole sitter. As far as every class drawing their own different invert, it adds a little more interest than having one driver draw the number for all classes.

Next week we should have the "full-invert" card in the mix! ;)

I'm not sure we should have a full-invert card. Some of the factory stocks "racing" in the back are turning 23 second times on the stopwatch--that's 39 mph on a 1/4 mile. I'm not sure driving that "fast" through Fosterburg would even get you a ticket! :D

I'm not saying invert the same amount of cars every week. Invert all classes with a different # every week. Not every class having to draw diffently. Use a 1-6 invert system. Let the invert # be drawn and invert all classes the same with the diffent # drawn. Then the sand bagging would not happen as much because there is a chance they may draw a #1. After the heats are over, the winner of the B-main draws a # for all classes to be inverted the same. It makes no diffence if it's a 6 or a 1,the point is that this way it is equal for all classes, because the way they are doing it now,not all classes have a chance to draw a #1, only one class. That's why I'm just suggesting,Put the 1-6 #'s in every night and invert all classes the same.

OR they could use Belleville's system and simply re-draw pills for the first three rows in each class.

I WOULD PREFER THIS WAY OVER THE WAY ITS DONE NOW...JMO

Agree

Been quiet all year, and i love the way things are going out there.BUT....the invert is screwed with the system they have in place......1 draw for all the classes on the last heat race has no chance of a sandbag like last year.Or the pill draw.MY opinion wwith a full invert is.............LOTTA CARS TORE UP,and car counts are going to start going down because guys are not going to be able to keep up with the repairs. Not to mention alotttttttttttt of cautions, wich we all know is a royal pain in the a s s!

Let the dash winner pull the card for everyone and no saandbaggin, and alot better racin!

First off, I want to say that the track was great last Saturday. Now with that out of the way, THE INVERT IS CRAP. Ok if they want to invert the cars to cause wrecks and get people to come to see the wrecks they should advertise as a demo derby. With this being said an invert can be handled better if they are going to use it. They need to have the heat winning drivers watch the draw. The way they are doing it now they might as well just come out and say they are sending up who they want and sending back who they want. Those are my opinions which might be sided to my team because we won the mod heat and started 6 in the feature and had to battle traffic to come up with a 2nd place run. In closing I do want to stress the fact that the track was nice to race on.

Some would say that so long as there's consistency with the format, given the law of averages, over the course of a 15,20,25 night season, everyone will get screwed the same number of times as they luck out on the invert draw. The sample size is just too small this early in the season. It'll even out. ;)

I'm not sure about the wisdom of changing the format in the middle of the season. Otherwise it looks like you're making up rules as you go along--which really WOULD be true. That DOESN't mean it shouldn't be looked at for '05.... :)

The winkin' smiley means I was pullin' yer legs. There won't be a full field invert card.

The invert is fine, makes for good racing but, keep it the same way it was the last 6 years I've going there. Don't change the format in the middle of the season and screw things all up. From the officials I talked to they said the class with the most car count gets the 1 -6 invert #'s in the cards. Why not just put the 1-6 #'s in for all classes and just have the class with the most car count pull the pill for all classes. It makes it easier for all drivers to figure out where they are starting the feature and I'm sure it makes it easier on the official who has to do the inverting. This way if a 1 is drawn, it's almost like not inverting at all. There would alot less sandbagging because you never know what will be pulled.
