Pontoon Beach, IL (October 3, 2008) Tri-City Speedway will host the biggest paying Midget show of 2008 on October 8th-11th. The Gold Crown Midget Nationals presented by Dupont Automotive Finishes will be co-sanctioned by USAC and POWRi.
The event kicks off on Wednesday, October 8th with an open practice session from 6-9pm. Then, on Thursday, October 9th, the Gold Crown Midget Nationals gets underway with a complete Midget show paying $1,500 to win the twenty-five lap A-Main. The top two finishers from Thursday will advance directly to Saturday's A-Main. Also competing on Thursday night will be crate late models with a special U.M.P. vs. Fastrak event featuring many of the top crate late model teams from around the Midwest.
On Friday, the action continues with another complete Midget show paying $1,500 to win the A-Main with the top two finishers advancing directly to Saturday's A-main. The Super Late Model division will also be competing on Friday night making this a spectacular open wheel and stock car combination event.
The action will conclude on Saturday with the $15,000 to win fifty lap Gold Crown Midget Nationals main event along with all of the qualifying lower main events. The Gold Crown Midget Nationals main event will feature a twenty-four car starting field paying $1,000 just to start the feature. The Modified division will also be competing on Saturday night as well.
