I know its hard to diagnose over e-mail, but im just lost on this problem. My truck has had a problem lately. The problem: It feels as if the front brakes are holding when driving but only at wierd times. I'll be driving through town and then about 55mph, and all of a sudden I let off the gas and I dont even have to hit my brake b/c my truck will come to a complete stop on its own its holding so bad, but after a while my brake pedel will go to normal (normal is not as hard as a rock when the problem occurs) and it will be fine and sometimes th eporblem will happen again. WHAT I DID: I replaced the brakes all the way around. I mean everything except front rotors, just turned them. Replaced the master cylinder (the one that was in there was out of a big conversion chevy van and wasnt working right. Also I JUST replaced the front hoses (skyjacker) thinking that would be the problem. Wel it seems to be a little better, but its happening again. Its a 85 chevy 1/2 ton with 35 TSL's. Please if anyone has any ideas I could really use the help.

does ur rims fit ok they could be rubbing ur brakes. ur brake booster could be going bad.or ur porporting valve .them are 3 problems u can check

Oh, sorry I replaced proportioning Valve, and rims are fine. Yesterday I just put new tires on it and checked all around there. But thank you VERY MUCH. I will check the previous mentioned.

to check to see if it is the booster. just unbolt the master cylinder from the booster leaving the brake lines hooked up. with the master out of the way start the engine and see what the piston and push rod does. it should not move at all. If it starts to move out that means it is self applying at that it is bad. it it does not move then it should mean that the booster is good. hope this helps
