Searcy, Arkansas (07/27/21) – While the weekend might’ve gotten off to a slow start for Tyler Stevens, he hit his marks when it counted most in the inaugural Kenneth Mitchell Memorial at 67 Speedway of Texarkana. The Arkansas racer took the lead just before halfway in the $5,555-To-Win finale and went on to cruise to the triumph in his W&W Timber No. 2 Stallion Transportation Group / XR1 Rocket Chassis Crate Late Model.

“We struggled in qualifying on Friday night but after that we get our program in gear and did exactly what we needed to do to get the win. This is the biggest payday of my racing career, and it came in an event that means a lot to me. Jon (Mitchell) and his whole family are like family to me, so to win the first-ever memorial race for his dad is really special,” Stevens commented. “We’re going to take this momentum and hit the road this weekend to Thunderhill Raceway Park for their $10,000-To-Win Crate Racin’ USA event. It’s going to be a tall order to get the win, but I believe our team is up to the challenge. I know we’ll only get better if we keep pushing ourselves against tough competition.”

Tyler Stevens embarked on the inaugural Kenneth Mitchell Memorial on Friday night at 67 Speedway of Texarkana. Twenty-five competitors were on hand as preliminary action kicked off. Tyler struggled in qualifying, but bounced back to win his heat race, which earned him a spot in the redraw for Saturday night’s 55-lap, $5,555-to-win finale.

Receiving the fourth spot in the redraw, Tyler advanced to the second position on the opening lap. He bided his time before charging to the lead on the 17th circuit of the 55-lap affair. Once out front he never looked back on his way to his eighth victory of the season and the richest win of his career.

Kyle Beard, Jon Mitchell, J.C. Waller, and David Winslett rounded out the Top-5 finishers.
