MADISON, Ill. - The United Black Drag Racers Association® (UBDRA) is
hosting its 13th Annual Black Sunday® Weekend drag racing event at
Gateway International Raceway Sept. 14-16.
Black Sunday® is the largest nationally recognized drag racing event
in the country hosted by an African American organization. The
weekend's festivities will kick-off with a Hospitality Night on Friday, Sept.
14th which is open to the public and the entertainment that night will
include live entertainment with music by X-Factor.
There will be fun and games for the kids, heart-stopping car and
motorcycle exhibitions as well as great food and an exhilarating time to be
had by all.
Besides the all-out peddle-pushing drag racing, activities will include
a manufacturers' row, children's play village and free health
screenings. The program will include a high stakes Quick 16 car & bike race
along with the traditional race program. This year the event will boasts
both quarter-mile and eighth-mile races.
After each event, a variety of charitable organizations benefit from
the proceeds of Black Sunday. In 2006, the organization gave more than
$28,500 to charitable organizations across the country including Faith
House, Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club, Dorris' Helping Hand, East St.
Louis Community Camp, North Side Community Center and many other
Metro-area charities.
