It looks like Peoria race fans will get only one local visit by the UMP Summernationals in 2003.

A tentative schedule for the 26 race grind through the Midwest has been released, and Peoria Speedway is not on it. A source close to the situation revealed that Charleston, Godfrey, and Peoria have been taken off the schedule.

UMP, looking to take the series to the next level, has raised the minimum amount to win to $6,000 per race. UMP also plans on offering another $100,000 reward for the series winner, won by Tennessee driver Scott Bloomquist last year.

The series is likely to start at Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin on June 21 and 22. There are still details to be worked out with the track, however, and the official date is TBA as it sits now.

The following Monday, June 23 the series moves to Shawano, WI, followed by Hales Corners, WI on the 24th. LaSalle gets its earliest SN date ever on Wednesday, June 25, with Crown Point, IN preceeding the Kankakee-Fairbury swing on June 26 & 27.

Sunday, June 29 the series will move to Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN, followed by Terre Haute,IN. The July 1 date is TBA, with Clarksville, TN, Kentucky Lake Speedway, Paducah International Raceway, and Pevely, MO on consecutive nights.

Montgomery County Speedway in Missouri gets its first Summernationals race on Sunday, July 6, followed by shows at Fayette County Raceway in Brwonstown, Danville and Spoon River on July 9. The "Herald & Review 100" will follow Spoon River Thursday night, followed by Farmer City July 11.

July 12, the series makes its first appearance at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH. July 13 is an open date, followed by races at Burlington, IA on July 14, Owatonna, MN on July 16, Hartford, MI on July 18, and concluding at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, OH July 19.

In other UMP news, Track Enterprises owner Bob Sargent confirmed he has reached a tentative agreement to promote Vermillion County Raceway in Danville next year.

The UMP Late Model banquet is this weekend in Indianapolis, with the expected announcement of the sale of UMP by President Bob Memmer to Sargent, NASCAR driver Kenny Schrader, Iowa promoter Bob Lawton, and Howie Commander, promoter of Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York.
