UMP Modified National Champion Argument...

once the details are released on this show it will be much clearer to everyone why it will be a must attend..

Very rarely does it come down to the last couple races in this summitt modified points fund... Last year it came down to Harrison & Poel.. They only take your best 8 races...

Put them both on a neutral track and they would both win the same amount. Harrison probably has 10 years more experience on him in a mod.

I will just say this about Eldora... Every year in October when everyone goes to Eldora it's usually the guys from this area that win on a consistent basis..

Don't be a hater. Gilpin has won the national title 3 years in a row. He knows what he has to do to win it.They are both good in a mod.

as a fellow racer- racefan all I can say is kudos to anyone chasing a track championship, much less a national championship... tremendous sacrifices are made that the average race fan doesn't see. nights in the garage, away from family, juggling your job-business trying to find funding,,,etc, etc I'm probably not qualified to say, but I would think that at that level of racing, the level of competition would be the least of your worries.. just thinking out loud best of luck to all involved

Gilpin is legit he wins in a crate, super, and modified.Maybe the bashers can email u.m.p and get them to go back to the old point format maybe that will help.

I will say this as far as the competition... I will take these drivers and go anywhere you wanna go and I can almost bet 90% of the races one of these guys would win..'this list is from Newton IL to the St. Louis area.. About a 100 mile stretch... I'm probably forgetting a few... We are very blessed to have so many great drivers in our area.. This is why I would drive 100 miles to watch a big mod show over walking across the street to watch a big late model show.. Love the mods....

Harrison
Mevert
Kinder
Hoffman
Griffaw
Leka
Long
Mullins

So now youre are taking Harrison Mevert Kinder Hoffman Griffaw Leka Long Mullins against Gilpin? Teams seems a little unfair........Hahaha

Read a little closer.. I've talked about the competition that is around this area... Those are the guys from this area.. Once again competition is not even close to what's around here..

I know what you meant... i was just kidding. There is a thread every year about "cherry picking". This is basically another one of those threads....

Those guys you mentioned run against each other on a pretty consistant basis..while Gilpin would not win near as many races if he ran against those guys consistantly..with that said I still think Gilpin is as good as those guys you mentioned...

That cherry picking has won him 3 National titles in a row. He has it figured out. But what you forget is he still has to win 30 or so features every year.
