UMP Mods and The Steve Schmitt Super Summer Series Returns to BCR Aug 29th

The ever popular and equally exciting UMP Modifieds returns to the ¼ mile located on the Bond County Fair Grounds in Greenville IL. this coming Sunday August 29th. Besides racing for $500. in first place prize money, valuable UMP points are also up for grabs. Adding into the mix the Modifieds will qualify for heat starting positions.

Also on the card will be the Steve Schmitt Super Summer Series Race Number 4, featuring the finest talent in the Sportsmen, Winged Micro's, Streetstocks and Hornets, the metro St. Louis area has to offer.

The last race of the series was held on August 15th. Mechanical misfortune hit both Sportsmen points leader Steve Meisel, and second in points, Steve Stevenson, Highland regular Dave Thornton cashed in and took home the Sportsmen honors.

Meisel, Stevenson, Dennis Wernle, Don Patton and Terry Chester round out the top five in points.

The King family of Vienna IL dominated the Micro?s. Making the trip to BCR for the first time they discovered the no walls semi-banked track to their liking. Kara and Dereck along with Austin Brown won the heats with Kara winning the dash. Rick King captured the nightcap followed by Dereck, Kara, Tom Dickman, and Highlands Tyler Diebert.

Despite the fact Tyler Robbins suffered mechanical woes, he held on to his points lead over Tony Roney, Kevin Staley, Diebert, and Roger Cairns round out the top five in points.

The class that has been stealing the show in the first three races of the Summer Series has to be the Streetstocks. Two, three and sometimes four wide has been the norm. Race number three winners were, Darryel Harris, Shawn Teeske, and Buddy Love in the heats, Darin Patton grabbed the dash trophy and Highland regular Matt Koch won the hard fought feature, Point leader Matt Workman was second, Patton, Aaron Melton and Brett Kovis rounded out the top five.

The points race stacks up like this, Workman in the lead followed by Patton, Scott Winasky third, Teeske fourth, and Ricky Huebner and Koch find themselves in a tie for fifth.

The hornet class is divided into two classes but at the last Summer Series Race they ran a race in a race. All the cars competed together on the track with the highest finishing cars in each class receiving top honors trophy, points, and payout. The overall winner was Highlands Russell Eilers driving a DOHC; Jason Schulte, and Tom McMahan followed him to the stripe in the DOHC class. Eric Gillomen was the highest finishing SOHC, Matt Korte and Chris Shaw ran second and third. Rob Shaw and Marvin Frey won the heats.

The points race aligns themselves like this heading into race four, in the DOHC Robbie Eilers is on top followed by Rob Shaw, Schulte, Russell Eilers, and McMahan. The SOHC leader is Giloman, Chris Shaw, Dan Sandiford, Matt Korte, run second thou fourth respectfully and Daniel Sandiford and Ryan Timmons are tied for fifth.

Race number four of the Steve Schmitt Super Summer Series is set to kick off this Sunday August 29th, Pit gates open at 3pm, with hotlaps starting at 5:30pm. UMP Modified qualifying rolls off at 6pm. Pit passes are $25.00. Grandstands Admission is Adults $10. Students $5. and Kids under 12 FREE with a paid adult. The Bond County Raceway is located on the Bond County Fairgrounds in Greenville IL.
