UMP Mods will not have spoilers in '15

Here would be my Mod rules changes for 2015 if I were in charge.. LOL

OPEN MOTORS: Weigh 2425 lbs at all times.. 2" spoiler
LIMITED MOTORS: Weigh 2375 lbs at all times... Steel heads, flat tappet cam and lifters mandatory.. 3" spoiler
GM 604 CRATE MOTORS: Weigh 2300 lbs at all times.. 5" spoiler

On all Mods:
Shocks - $50 claim -- Track or Sanction must claim all shocks of feature winner at any show paying $1,000 or more to win.
Tires - Hoosier H only -- Although Hoosier should make this tire in 26.5" as well as 27.5" to make it work
Front Suspension -- I'm not sure what all is being done here, but there is definitely some alterations going on that need to be brought back in control..

I'm sure I'd be out of business quickly, but these are my thoughts.. lol

In UMP rules, they have a diagram of a stock chevelle stub. They just need to get their tape measures out and start measuring the major points. IMCA has about 5 major points they measure and have been nailing guys with altered frames. But Metric frames are able to get away with a little more because tech guys don't want to mess with Metric Frames.

USMTS RULES.......

OH WHAT UMP DOESNT KNOW HOW TO TECH OR WORRIED THEY WILL PISS OFF THERE GOLDEN CHILDREN .....

the "H" is fine to start the season on the right rear-let us use the 26.5 "A" on the LR or left front for a time also----JMO but then ya all's no I gots lots more to say

Here are some of my ideas on revising Mod rules:
  • MSD chip & tech rules. Easy & fast tech. Rolled heads (13dg, 15dg, 18dg etc) have a lower rpm chip. 23 degree heads have a higher rpm chip. Rev limiter & chip can be checked in a few minutes. Zero tolerance.
  • Rolled head motor has to weigh more.
  • Mods NEED to have spoilers. 2” to 6”? More motor equals less spoiler. NO SPOILER LOOKS LESS THEN “COOL”.
  • QUALITY one compound hard tire rule.
  • QUALITY one compound hard tire rule.
  • QUALITY one compound hard tire rule.
  • QUALITY one compound hard tire rule.
  • QUALITY one compound hard tire rule.
They have an exciting and growing class called B-Mods which need to run iron heads, flat tappet cams and crate motors.

that's why ump dosnt tech at i55 or bel vegas because they would have to punish the golden children and we all know Donnie and ray arnt going for that

Be amazed if they did actually tech some of the stubs. Sure does look like some are way altered. What will happen to all the tires they cant run now? Sell them to the b mod guys?

the powers to be usually allot some USE UP TIME regarding tires-like I said earlier H on rr from start of season---I agree with steve no spoilers looks dumb

You can walk through the pits any given fri or sat night and see dbl adjustable shocks, threaded body aluminum late model shocks, illegal sail panels and spoiler sides, frame rail altercations, blah blah blah. I see this stuff at the trade show for the UMP banquet! Sad! Why make new rules when old ones aren't enforced? Sounds like any other governing body to me. Rules NOT enforced are just an expensive suggestion for the honest ones!!!

Body rules and spoiler rules are the normal “whipping boy” for UMP. A sheet of aluminum cost $60-70 no matter how you bend it. Having mods look like a 1980 IMCA race car is not the answer to improving the sport. Steve Sr.

Ump needs to assemble a crew of knowledgeable people consisting of chassis guys (like Jumper) engine guys (like Steve SCP) and other racing experts to come up with the answers to needed changes. Then, they need to run these suggested changes by their members for comments.

But they won't do that because they are too arrogant and have a need to protect their precious income like tire monies etc etc. they also don't care about what their members think unless forced to.

There is much that could be done but don't hold your breath pilgrims!

Or at minimum provide the reasons and some facts of why they are making the changes. Otherwise there's just a lot of speculation.
