UMP Mods will not have spoilers in '15

You guys can make a statement with UMP and show them you disagree with how they are doing things by not buying their license. If you don't then your mouths are moving but, their not listening.

Ump's worst nightmare is a couple independent tracks that walk away from them and can make it work. Someone has to start the uprising. Others will follow once its shown that it can be done.

Ump is simply trying to make a change just to say they did.

Meanwhile tires all over will seal up and become useless faster without a spoiler

Well in my opinion - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. A Mods are probably the most popular class at most tracks - both in car count and fans. Leave the A rules alone and change the B's so that there is a significant noticeable difference between them and the A's. Why mess up a good class by "neutering" the cars with hard tires and no spoiler?

Why stop there... Let's take the spoilers off the Late Models too.

Cars will be looser, more spread out, more yellows and look uglier IMO. That'll attract more fans!

My whole deal is this. You take 2 cars. One has a 700 hp motor on hard tires and no spoiler. Second car has a 500 hp motor no spoiler and hard tires. Car 1 will still outrun car 2. Yes the corners will be interesting but so will it be on everyone else. Doesnt solve the big problem.

The current horsepower on hard tires and no spoiler sounds like a crashfest waiting for a race to happen... Leave the rules alone. If Ya can't afford the HP there are other classes you can race in.
My biggest thing is that they need to go with EITHER Street Stock OR Sportsman. Stupid to have both...

The argument that if you cant afford the big hp run something else is helping to kill racing more and more racers are second guessing why they are still doing it.The cost for lms racing weekly for1000 is insane and modifieds racing for 6 to 700 weekly.

The cost of engines went up when they added the spoiler. Went up even more when they allowed longer and wider nose. Then add the shock package to the speed eqution look out money money.UMP should have kept the mods on the radial tire(G-60) like IMCA. UMP and Sam Driggers need to wake up and get of their ass before it is too late.

Obviously most of you haven't ever went and watched a race at west mephis the no spoiler rule and harder tire rule with the weight rule will make a difference and equal things out some ppl on here just mouth abt ump because they got suspended and they got money to blow but they are also the same type of ppl that tell ppl they are gonna help them to order stuff to go to a big race like tires and he will pay for it as a sponsor then never makes good on it :) Jmo I think it's a good rule for the under funded teams!!!!!

Ok here is what I'm thinking. Since it seems like the some of the A-mod guys don't want any rule changes let's let them keep the what they have. Then take the B-mods and come up with a good set of rules and ask the tracks to enforce these rules and let's see which car counts grow and which one dwindles.

I think the tracks have catered long enough to the 5 to 7 mods and 3 to 5 late models that seem to dominate each and every week that the rest of both classes surely would seem to be getting upset and not being able to compete would want the rules changed to make the race cars more equal and affordable. To me I would think that any of the top 5 mod guys and top 5 late model guys should be able to climb in any car that starts the feature and win with that car and thats far from reality at I-55 or any other track for that matter and to me is what has been hurting the sport...Ive been going to the race's for over 45 years now and Ive seen the sport grow and now I am watching it hurt and I just don't enjoy watching the same people win all the time in a follow the leader format that we have now.And I agree with havoline about the top guys dont want change because as of now they dont have much competition because everyone dont have the funds to compete period...

I've been hesitant to post a comment on this subject but after reading all of the opinions I figured I might as well throw mine out there. Until last year I had been out of modified racing since 2007 and honestly, other than watching results, haven't paid much attention to what has been going on. After trying to compete for the past two seasons with mediocre results I've realized the class has financially gotten out of control. Who thought it was a good idea to approve $300 gas adjustable shocks,or carbon fiber driveshafts,or aluminum brake calipers, or magnesium housing transmissions and rear ends, or a nose that sticks out past the bumper? I have raced at 7 different race tracks this past season and have not seen an official look at anything other than tire compound and that was only at one. Walking around the pits at several of the summernational shows I've seen a lot of obvious rule violations that went unaddressed. What all of this comes down to is the ability of putting 750+ hp to the ground on an 8 inch tire compared to maybe 600 hp 6 or 7 years ago. The opinion of if you can't afford it move to a lower class is just plain ignorant. The payout has changed very little since 2007 other than the winner and the cost to compete has increased at least 100%. I will be there next year but if this madness continues this class will die .

well put war..i was convinced you could not hook up 750+hp on an 8 inch tire..back in 07 i think the revalvable shocks were the best allowed and they ran at most 140-150$. But with the advancement in shock tech among other things i believe they are getting all that power on the ground..which i think is the difference between now and 2007, when it got slick the playing field was leveled somewhat...nowadays not so much..

Carbon fiber drive shaft is great cost alot but if you break an aluminum driveshaft hospital is expensive.

It wouldn't be a problem if the sanctioning body mandated a steel drive shaft tunnel or at the very least a steel layer between the drive shaft and drivers tub. OR....anyone running a unsuitable drive shaft containment system. Seriously, have you seen the cheesy do nothing "loops" some guys come up with?

A good driveshaft containment is a lot cheaper than the carbon fiber shaft. Another problem is the track promoters thinking that it is great for the track to be as tacky as possible. Most of the time a real tacky track makes for one lane racing unless you run over your competitors trying to pass them. All it would take is a few slick spots in the track to even out the racing. Holding 750 hp to the floor is entertaining for the ones that start in the front but if you are the unfortunate one that starts in the back it sucks. It didn't bother me as much when most track s qualified because then at least you deserved to start where you did but when it comes down to pill draw and you draw bad sometimes you should probably weigh the cost to race to the realistic expectation of your finish. If most drivers did this there wouldn't be many cars in the race.

Mud face I bet if I had a week to work on most the cars in the field I could get in them and win or at least be very competitive the reason the same guys win is cause they work hard on their stuff an come to the track prepared to win every body wants to win but not everybody wants to do enough work to win
