To all the morons bitching on this post, last night a 3- link car with a crate motor won at Tri-City. With all the supposed open rules. Stop bitching and whining on here and get to work on your junk. As long as the engine rules stay the way they are, I see it being a great class for a long time. Them Eiler's boys can flat out wheel and they are intelligent. To many people thinking you can race and win with used up equipment, your wrong. So many teams in racing are just outworked its unbelievable. Winning races starts in the shop. Get a maintenance plan maybe. The rules are great in our area in my opinion and it proved it last night at Tri-City. That#3 car I know for a fact was a bent car they fixed. I also know for a fact that is a perfectly sealed crate motor with i think they said with 61 nights on it when they dropped it in. So they do not have much invested in it. The simple fact is, get your car to handle good and you will start going to the front. I promise!

I
Ford makes a crate engine too and it's superior to the GM crate stuff. Maybe they should mandate that everyone run the Ford engine.

Another option would be to not give a weight break to the 602 engine but put the 2 barrel engines on the 7448 on a Performer intake then the power levels would be pretty close.

It's also way more expensive.

cummins motor is from the same lot as the 3 cars motor--do belive it was sealed by allied--corse he got spun in a racing deal or would have run second

I'm still working on finishing my car and plan on running tri city most of the time. I'm not against the crate being allowed in this class but am against it being mandated. We should be able to chose what motor we want to run. Tri cities rules right now are perfect in my opinion. I'd hate to have to buy a new motor after just finishing mine just bc of a mandated engine.

I think rules will stay as is. He is drawing a good crowd with what he has. Im still not sold on 4 links being there but they all do put on a good race. I can tell the 3 links to the 4 's and its not too bad. Just hope the crate isnt mandatory and if it is make them run the intake that was mentioned with a 2 bbl. Thats my only complaint. As i said a 355(well least one i ran) is really close to a 602 on 2 bbls. I knew when i ran against the 406's i should have asked for a 4 bbl. As kevin even once said for the street stocks the carb is the even playing field tool. But if it remains 4 bbl's for 602's may see some guys just go that route because im sure its at least an advantage on starts. It is a nice class and they do make good races. Keep up the good work tri city! Making for some awesome features!

The 602 on a 4bbl does not produce more power than the 355's. I've ran both and it's actually very close with the crate lacking a little bit of Hp but ahead a little in torque. Without the 4bbl the crate would be useless. There's no advantage other than the operating cost is cheaper because the crate lasts much longer.

ya all know what I think bout making Bs run crates---here is my experience with a 2 bbl vs a 4 bbl---since I have run my b mod most of the year with the A mods-I installed a 750 gas carb a few weeks ago and like gained a good bunch of HP--specially down the straights--and the motor is a 100% legal 358 B motor---------JMO

the issue here is not about my old clap trap but the crate motor-some research would be in order-do a chassis dyno on crates and open motors--there is a dyno in highland-pull a crate with the required carb and then with a 2 bbl---then pull a open 2 bbl and lastly install a 4 bbl and see the results------------------but then old furball don't no sheet

That would help as long as the drive train in each is exactly the same.

Or you can go off engine specs from Gm and from a top builder like Mullins.

Either way, I'm not saying the crate should be mandatory, I'm actually against that because then the quality would go down from Gm. But I've ran both and think they are very close in power when the crate has the 4bbl.

Mandatory Crate Engines will make it a GM-only class,correct?..Do we really want that???..That's like putting an IH Engine in a John Deere Pulling Tractor.....
