I Have a 93 E250 w/5.8 liter. I recently replaced timing chain and gears(recently I mean 3000 miles ago). I was driving down the interstate at about 70 miles an hour and lost all power.Van started heasateing badly for about 15 seconds and then died, Now it will not start at all. I have no fire. I have replced the coil with 3 different ones and still no fire from coil.I have ran a jumper from battery to coil and the coil is getting power but is not sending it out. Any Help Would Be Great.

If you havent already you might check the crank shaft sensor or cam sensor. Had that same thing happen on me once and thats what it was just died and then nothing.

Yes..ignition modules..p/u coils in the distributor too. Als..check make sure rotor in distributor is turning. Ive seen oil pumps lock up..twist drive to distributor. Also..there was a common deal of fuse links and grounds breaking..at firewall.

I have changed coil, ign. mod.,cap, rotor and rebuilt dist.. The cam shaft sensor is in the dist. so that has been checked and replaced. The crankshaft sensor I am not sure about. I called The Zone and Carquest and they both said my van does not have one installed on it. The rotor is turning fine but I cannot get any spark. If I turn the key backwards right after turning engine over I get a single spark and that's it. I hate to price a new computer for one because I know they aren't cheap. ANY other suggestions would be great. Thanks

help

check you motor grounds to the block the coil may not be grounded good.,also use a jumper wire to acess the vehicle computer, see if the computer is got any trouble codes stored in it,if it doesnt then i doubt the computer is bad..you also might wanna check the plugs on the distributor.i had the same problem and the plugs on distributor were messed up and not makin contact..good luck...

DON'T....... Throw a puter at it, very very rare for ECM's to fail and besides if it's got a distributer it usually doesn't use the puter to spark, if it has a distributer it does not use a crank sensor thats the pickup in the dist....Coil does not need a ground & you can't jumper a ford to read codes......... Let me read up on it and i'll post after while.......

Man I hate the early ford systems, could be 1 of four setups, so I 'm gonna assume the module is mounted on the dist. if it is that narrows it to 2 of 4
So lets start with this.... find the spout connector, close to distrb. should be a grey plastic square shaped plug bout 1/2 inch square ( it's basically just a jumper)
un plug that bugger if it has spark now you can throw a puter at it.... but if it still doesn't spark after unplugging that connector start looking for a shorted wire going to module on dist. ( usually shorts against intake)
