(Norman, IN) “The Gentleman” Jim Curry has teamed up with Justin Blackwell Racing for the remainder of the 2003 season. Justin will field a Blackwell Trucking / Blackwell Limestone #7 C.J. Rayburn entry for the 2003 Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee. The Rayburn Monte Carlo will also be powered by a Rayburn power plant.

“I am real excited about the chance to drive this car,” said Jim on Saturday night. “Justin has great equipment and I feel real comfortable in this C.J. Rayburn Race Car. The motor also seems to be strong and smooth. I am really looking forward to next weekend at Brownstown, I want to win the Jackson again bad.”

Jim debuted in his new ride on August 2, when he shook down the car in a local event at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN. The most winningst driver in Brownstown Speedway history almost picked up his 105th victory at the famed ¼-mile oval on that evening, but came up short and finished in the second place spot.

Last night, Jim took his new Rayburn mount to the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the $10,000 to win Northern Allstar Late Model Series-sanctioned BLUEGRASS CLASSIC. Jim finished fourth in his heat race, which was one spot out of a transfer position, but rebounded in the consolation event to finish second and make the big show. In the 60-lap main event, Jim had to pilot a car that had “no drive,” and finished in the 14th position.

This weekend, Jim will bring his Justin Blackwell-owned #7 to the Jackson County Fairgrounds and the historic Brownstown Speedway for the annual running of the JACKSON 100. On Friday night, a $2,000 to win feature event will be on tap for the competitors, with the JACKSON 100 to be held on Saturday night. Both nights will feature qualifying, heat races, consolation events, and the main events, with Saturday’s JACKSON 100 paying $10,000 to win and $1,000 to start. Jim has won the famed event twice in its existence, as he took the checkers first in 1988 and 1998. For more information on this event, log on to www.brownstownspeedway.com.
